Didn't we hired Spav 2.0 or rather the Beta version? Same scheme. Against Bama and LSU I expect the same. Bubble screen left, bubble screen right, slow developing run up the middle for no gain, punt. Hope I am wrong. Cal was productive against Hawaii, but I cringed watching it. Just not a scheme that works against the SEC elite.
And Ole Miss's offense is???

Not only is their offense similar to ours this year and the last couple years, but theirs is actually more simple, albeit with more zone read thrown in (which Mazzone will take more advantage of with a mobile QB like Knight).
It's about execution, talent, and coaching. It is not the scheme that has doomed us against the elite defenses, it is the execution and playcalling of that scheme that has. Insert Mazzone and Turning: both of who will make a good difference.

Heck go back and watch the national championship game this past January. The scheme Clemson ran last year and in the big game is very similar to what we are running. Tons of screens to the outside, inside zone running game, zone read with the QB, and vertical passing attack thrown in when the field opens up. Granted, Deshaun Watson is the best QB in college football, so that certainly augments that offense BIG time, just like Johnny did for us. They also had more talent than we did at QB, OL, and RB, to go along with better coaching last year.

Scheme is like the president or the QB: oftentimes, they get too much credit when they win, and too much blame when they lose.
