Didn't have control.
What a trip down memory lane....the t.u receiver was George Sauer.....who later went to the Jets and caught balls from Joe Willie Namath.....in Super Bowl 3, when the Jets shocked the world by beating the Colts....Sauer had the best game of his career... ( he passed away about 2 years ago)

Is the other Aggie in the photo Ed Hargett?......who I saw later play QB for the Saints.....

Thanks........would Billy Hobbs have been on that team?.......I remember Billy playing for my Eagles in the late 60's-early 70s....

Edd Hargett and Bill Hobbs played for Gene Stallings 1966-68, and were SWC and Cotton Bowl champions in the '67 season. Hank Foldberg was the coach of the '63 team. I believe the only player on that team to play in the NFL was Joe Wellborn. Foldberg lasted only one more year, going 1-9 in 1964, the lone win by 1 point over Rice.

CORRECTION: The lone 1964 win was 23-0 over SMU in Dallas.
.
The 1 point win over Rice you are probably thinking of was 1965........14-13....set up by a blocked extra point.

You are correct. I saw all those games and my memory scrambled on that one.

Jim Keller was our QB. He hit Travis Regean and ????? for TD's. Tommy Wade came in for Carlisle late because he had the stronger arm. Knox Nunnelly , Nobis, Ernie Coy, Appleton & David McWilliams. Tommy Ford ain't in the zone yet either. Brotherton's fumle was the killer. Sauer actually caught a ball out of bounds in the last drive that once again Rooster called in. The field was a mess. Texas accused us of watering all night between the hash marks. It had rained but those who played on it will remember the drainage was non-existant. Though I wouldn' t have put it past Pick. The whole thing was a mess. The sips did beat a good Navy team with Roger the Dodger at the helm.

We got a little back at them in 65. Ledbetter bounces it to Kaufman laterally, then he stomps around like it incomplete then step back and cut it lose to Dude Mclean. Texas Special!! Who was there?
90 something yards and egg on their face. Whoop!

'67, I was there in '65. In the Houston Post next day, Lloyd Gregory was quoted as saying that he would rather get beat by the Ags than out smarted by them. That was about our only consolation.

Walk on 67, I too was there. Rooster Andrews was not even CLOSE to being an official in that
game! The sips are crooked, slimy and scum bags BUT no Aggie would've allowed him to
be an official. He kicked during WWII and was a trainer at Texas. We got screwed that day but
NOT by Rooster Andrews. Would have been like us getting John Kimbrough as an official in that
game. They are despicable, would have done it BUT not even they coulda' gotten away with that.
Biggest issue was the official that made the call was around the goal line and Willenborg''s back
shielded him from a good view. NO QUESTION that it was an interception but it's laughable
that Andrews was an official. He was probably the biggest sip homer that God ever created.

We played way over our heads that day, and the sips were looking past us. The sloppy field was the great equalizer, besides the refs, who gave tu the benefit of every close or questionable call. Sips were loaded with talent and future NFL players, but our scrappy team actually outplayed them that day. That game will never be forgotten by either side.

I'm sorry. That was an interception. No doubt.

Coach 64. The rules changed in the early 80's about calling games that involved a school you graduated from.
It was calls like this one that eventually caused that to come to pass. I knew Rooster personally. Was in his sporting goods store dozens of times. He was the back judge in the game and could have overuled the umpire that had no good look at the play. He always argued that he brought it under control just as his knee hit the end line. Judge for yourself. The sips did get the calls back then like Bama does now.

Bama got the calls back then too

Hell they've been on the receiving end of officiating gifts for decades

So, when is the next viewing of the 2005 championship game on the LHN or our "loss" in the 2011 game?
