Why don't we rescind offers once commits start taking other visits?

A commit taking other visits says that he is not committed. so if that is the case, then we should withdraw offers to players we are not excited about and have second thoughts on.
it should work both ways.

No need to rescind the offer. Just come up with a backup plan.

Didn't we give Texas a lot of s*** for trying this?

Back when Sumlin had swag, he would say, "if you're looking, we're looking."

Because no one worth anything would commit here

Even that is different than outright rescinding an offer.

OP, I'm not sure we're nearly good enough to rescind offers because a recruit is wavering.

Wait, exactly what are you suggesting?

This makes it sound like you want us to rescind offers not because a recruit is wavering on their commitment but because we changed our mind about who we want?

If that's the case, absolutely not. Players will be timid to commit here if they're afraid we'll pull an offer out from under them because we found someone we like better.

Players certainly will not shut their recruiting down if they're afraid we'll pull their offer.

Buyer/Seller market

Which is greater?
The recruits desire to attain what we have to offer, or
Our desire to attain what the recruit has to offer.

Arguably we're on the wrong side of that equation---top recruits like Martell can go all over the country to great programs.

And even if that isn't he case, by pissing off recruits, we can put ourselves on the wrong side of that.

We aren't the Belle of the ball anymore.

Manziel mania was a couple years ago and we have fallen below expectations on the field 3 years in a row.

4 star caliber recruits are in the power position with us at this point.

Don't rescind openly, just start shopping for someone else at the same position. Like previous poster said "if you're looking, we're looking". No reason the straying commit should be offended. A&M has to take care of A&M.

It worked for Mack for most of his tenure at sip.

Because for any bluechip recruit that was turned off by that, they had 2 more wanting to fill his spot.

I understand that it's frustrating to lose commitments. However, if we only tried to recruit die hard Aggies who would never consider flipping then we would have a really bad football team.

A program should always be looking. Always.

Never stop recruiting. That includes our own commits and others that have committed elsewhere. Take nothing for granted. (this is opposite of the Sumlin rule which is take everything for granted)
