As a freshman, he was just a competent field goal kicker and a couple of mistakes away from taking us to the promised land.
In his final game as a Texas Aggie, he was a Fightin' Texas Aggie. With no Defense to help out, he shattered the bowl win dreams of Duke fans across the nation. Watch that game again. Watch either game he had against Bama again. Watch Johnny vs. Stoops.

Before you build a statue for someone you should wait until he is dead. At least that way he won't be able to do something boneheaded and embarrassing to the University that would make us regret building it. Right now he's still the guy who was arrested before he got the starting job. He sold autographs before his second year. He was helped enormously by a bunch of NFL caliber offensive linemen and receivers. He left college before graduating and waiting almost a year before he decided to pick up his ring. Now that he is gone there is no telling what foolishness he will get himself into before he fades away. There is a reason why the post office won't put any living person on a stamp. Living people haven't exhausted their opportunities to do really stupid things.
Yeah we should wait until our heisman winners are dead before we place statues of them around kyle field just like auburn did at jordan-hare. After all we are in the SEC now....conform! conform! conform!
