I am afraid not. That OV was suppose to be to Eugene, Oregon. That's his first love. However, Oregon os just too far away. He specifically told me that he probably would not be taking an OV to Oregon because the school can only pay for him to visit and not his entire family. He really likes taking his brothers to where he wants to go. It is really important to him that his brothers approve where he goes. If you did not know, they lost their father to cancer about 6 years ago. They are really close and help each other out. I have coached his oldest brother and the middle brother as well. Believe it or not his oldest brother had a chance to be something special too.

When I first met Brandon in the 7th grade he was all about LSU and Oregon. I asked him why Oregon and he said because of the uniforms. I immediately started making fun of him by saying things like Oregon has "cute" uniforms. He got a kick out of it and played along. So I strongly believe if Oregon was closer that's where he would be going. That's just my personal opinion though.

Also, another funny story:

His mom played volleyball for SFA and his dad was a football star for the 'Jacks. Brandon loved SFA and said he wanted to play football for them like his dad. So when Brandon wsa a freshman he got his first recruiting letter in the mail and it was from LSU. He immediately threw it in the trash. One of our coaches was like ummm what are you doing? He said, "Coach, I am playing for SFA, I am not interested in any other college." The coach then pulled the letter out of the trash and explained to him that it is probably a good idea he kept this.

I will say Brandon fell in love with ATM early. I am not sure what has changed his mind and I hate that. But, as his coach and someone who cares for him greatly, I just want to see the kid succeed. It might kill me, but if he does go to the sips I will cheer for his success. With that being said, I hope I am wrong and he comes to the good guys, #trollon

I can also tell you the kid that is committed to ATM just took an OV to Baylor. I told him i would beat him up if he flipped. He said, "Don't worry coach, I aint leaving Aggieland."

Yes. Immediate playing time in Austin is what is luring him imo. There are some other small factors too, but i bet that is the number one factor. Again, I don't like to bug him about this. Ill shoot him the occasional how is it going text and I would text him good luck every Friday night. Other than I try to leave the kid alone. I got to see him and his mom over the holidays and that was good. He has gotten a lot bigger and will be a HUGE factor in Nacogdoches Track team this year. I talk to his track coach/OC everyday. They are getting excited about NSD.

So true. Also, most of these kids don't realize that is not necessarily the best thing for their football career.

ETA that there is at least one safety currently on the Aggie team that I would turn into an outside linebacker. We need to get the best players on the field and we have multiple more than adequate safeties IMO.

While I admit we have virtually not shot at Brandon Jones even though he's visiting us this weekend, I feel somewhat confident that Chris Daniels will be a razorback.
