Hasty didn't have a commitable offer after Jay Bradford committed and Jefferson decommited after Sumlin took another RB. So, essentially Jefferson was pushed to go another direction.

Who is Kyle Fuller?

Starting C for baylor. Texas top 100 OT. We offered according to this

Maybe it was not "commitable." Lol. What are we, sips, now?

Don't know the story behind this guy, but non-committable offers definitely do exist, and are kind of a **** move on the part of the school. See: http://www.sbnation.com/college-football-recruiting/2013/5/23/4359776/alabama-recruiting-nick-saban-admits-offers-committable

Starkel is ours to lose now, UCLA just got a commitment from a 4 star QB, Devon Modster.

Not a sip troll. Big Aggie supporter. It sucks but it's the truth. How about this. If I'm wrong I'll give you my two Aggie football tickets for a game. You get to pick the game. If I'm right then you owe me nothing.

Hell, I agree with you, but I'll take that bet. I've got nothing to lose.

Deal?

It's not a **** move. Happens with 3/4 of each signing class.

Each position will have 2-3 kids rated about even by a staff and each kid is fully aware of the "first to commit" gets the spot. Thus rendering the other offers non-commitable.

Last year, Bradford jumped before Hasty. And this year Boyd jumped before Whaley and the kid from the Valley.

Agree to disagree. I think it's a **** move to tell a kid he has an offer but then decline his attempt to commit. The fact that it's common doesn't make
It decent.

By the way, the situation you're talking about is not at all the type being described in the article.

I think it's a **** move for a kid to drag the schools and teams along and then bail last minute. If I offer someone a job, I would prefer an answer, one way or the other. I don't want to hear, "I'll let you know February 3rd," when I have to start the job February 4th.

I agree. Unfortunately, the NCAA doesn't allow them to sign binding letters of intent until NSD.

I don't care if it's official or not. I still choose to take a man at his word until he proves otherwise. I am referring to the guys who wait until NSD to commit. They have no reason to cry about a non-commitable offer.

Let's be honest. There is probably zero overlap between the recruits who are stringing schools along and those receiving non-committable offers.

NSD isn't a deadline, it's the first day they can make a binding commitment.

The whole recruiting industry that's popped up over the past 15-20 years has changed not only how much earlier these kids are offered, but how many people know about it.

20 years ago, we'd hardly know who was being offered and who was committed prior to signing day.

Sheer numbers dictate that there has to be. We have way more offers out to uncommitted players than we have open spots.

So you're not talking about guys like Daylon Mack or Malik? You're just talking about kids who are taking their time making a decision?
cevans_40
How long do you want to ignore this user?

I am talking about anyone who gets an offer and waits, longer than say 6 months for argument sake, to decide.

I don't fault the kid for doing it, just think it's shady and they have no room to cry about their offer turning non-commitable.

It was actually one crystal ball (JC Shurburtt, 247sports National Analyst), but I'll take it.

I try and not to bug him about it bc he has several idiots a day telling him where he should go. I give him the occasional good luck/how is everything doing text, but I really try to let him be when it comes to the recruiting stuff. The only advice I gave him was 1. take all his OVs even if he knows where he wants to go and 2. When ou make your decision, base it on where you feel the most comfortable. You will not succeed if you aren't comfortable.

But from what I am hearing from people around him is that he will probably chose Texas. I do know he will not make his official announcement until NSD. And the notion that his family have been life long Texas fans is dead ass wrong. Both mom and dad played for SFA and he always liked that school more than anything. I truly believe if it was closer then Brandon would be going to Oregon. He also really liked LSU until he went down there for a visit. He never said what turned him off, but those were his schools he liked when he was younger.

I am trying to convince his OC to tell me as soon as he knows where Brandon is going, but I doubt he will. If I hear anything I will let yall know if I am allowed.

That's a bad comparison. i am pretty sure that you haven't been offered 45 jobs at one time.

I believe I would be able to narrow it down rather quickly.

Kids are 17 years old and they have 45 colleges asking them to come play. They narrow it down to 4 and you have to wait on them just for a little while.... And, they don't start the job Feb. 4th. They usuallly start in June.

I get it. I went through the process in a much smaller scale. My thought is, if you can't commit to a program you can not expect the program to commit to you.

So you are saying the kids aren't committed if they make their decision at the last minute?

I am saying they shouldn't expect the school to just keep them a spot open until the last minute. Remember this all started with the discussion of non-committable offers

How hard is it to understand that we have offered 5+ RB's this class.

When we get the number of commits needed, you don't seriously think we are going to keep the other commitable offers on the table, do you? Why should we be forced to take that many RB's when we need lineman and Db's and such?

Stupid way to think.

The discussion of non-committable offers actually had to do with the ones described here: http://www.sbnation.com/college-football-recruiting/2013/5/23/4359776/alabama-recruiting-nick-saban-admits-offers-committable

These aren't offers that become non-committable because someone else has taken your spot; these are when the school makes an "offer" but it only becomes committable at a later date, after (and if) the coach has decided to make it so.
