stop with these JFF threads...he doesn't play on our team anymore...who cares? If we want to talk in the past tense, he was a GREAT college football player. But in the NFL he is a POS QB. As for his off the field issues..who cares? Its all about football.

"For the record, I think the media's obsession with him is ridiculous and that a lot of the criticism is overblown (though his partying absolutely harmed his development last year), but that's the world we live in."

The "media" would have nothing to cover if it wasn't out acting the fool, driving 90 on the shoulder of a road, punching his girlfriend (if she had pressed charges he would have a felony assault charge right now), and generally acting like a spoiled kid instead of a pro. YOu want to party? Do it in your house. Your friends have cell phones? Lock them up or they can't come over. You want to take vids of YOURSELF??? Puhlease try not to. But if you want to go out in public and act your age instead of your position, then suck it up and take the heat. YOu are an NFL quarterback now and that position has strings attached. Accept it or go sell cars.

Or it's because he's a white kid that didn't grow up poor and you have a different set of standards for how somebody not black and not from the ghetto should act and that you have a lot of latent white guilt that the libtards have told you that you should be embarrassed of built up in your panties.

Not many will admit it, but I'm sure this has something to do with it (for most). I just wish Johnny had the team on the field to help him succeed so we can point out obvious double standards. Ray Rice, Greg Hardy, Ray Lewis, Adrian Peterson, etc. And no, I'm not white, so this is not one of those posts...

Interesting.

Funny how that standard ONLY seems to apply to Manziel.

LeBron James says he's 'concerned' about Johnny Manziel

quote:
Cleveland Cavaliers star LeBron James and his marketing group, LRMR, have a business relationship with Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel, but James is worried about Manziel the person.

"I'm more concerned with him individually," James said Wednesday morning as the Cavs prepared to play the Washington Wizards later that evening.

Manziel, who missed the Browns' season finale while in the NFL's concussion protocol program, spent Saturday dining and gambling at Las Vegas's Planet Hollywood casino, USA TODAY Sports reported.

"I don't know all the details on it. I haven't been all up on it, but I've heard a little bit of it," James said. "It's a distraction not only for himself but for everyone that's around him, including family, people that represent him. He'll figure it out at some point. We all do."

Citizen Reign - are you saying JFF's behavior is excusable, assuming he has an easily diagnosable, easily treated, mild mental disorder?

Can I assume you also think the "affluenza" kid should be coddled?

People like that have gone through life without adequate reality checks. Failure of parenting, whatever. The cure, or at least the first round of treatment, is a hard dose of reality. That'll come when Johnny is made aware of the fact that his talent isn't always going to trump his antics.

You're not as smart as you think you are. Until you have had children or been around people who truly have ADHD, you are not going to understand. Coddling is definitely not the answer.

Also, I'm not excusing anything. He is 100% accountable for his actions. The problem is, his actions will repeatedly be highly impulsive. And, it is not always "easily treated".

Again, I'm not stating that I know he has ADD of any sort. I was in a discussion with some friends, two of which have long careers as shrinks. Both said he fits the diagnosis to a T. Everything about him. If they were asked to diagnose him for treatment, they would start looking there first. Both acted like it would be blatantly obvious to any psychologist. Both think it brings some advantages to his on the field performance.
If your shrink-fueled story is true, then he would have been diagnosed long ago before this time. He would not have made it through elementary or middle school without it being diagnosed based on what his actions would have been in school and at home. If this is true, then his family has let him down if he was diagnosed and they let him leave college early and be out on his own at his young age with limited impulse control with no one there to help him make sure he makes good choices. I do not see his family doing this based on what we have seen of them since his days at A&M.

I just see a person with an ego and unlimited money for his age, making bad choices. I used to get mad thinking the media was making a big deal out of nothing with regards to Johnny. Now I just think he will have to live with the mess and bad choices he is making. Whether he has ADHD or not is immaterial.

Maybe he has been diagnosed and treated. That does not mean he would stop making impulsive decisions. Let's face it, that's all he has really been doing. Making impulsive decisions that have almost all been poor decisions. Also, many ADHD types have addiction issues. It's obvious to me that he is a really smart guy in other areas. His Heisman speech was far above the average. His Wonderlic was not bad at all.

You may be right about the ego, I'm just trying to point out that sometimes there is more to the story. Don't forget that Johnny was rocketed to stardom faster than anyone but The Beatles. Remember, he is the only athlete to every grace the cover of Time magazine twice. Not even Bo, not even Jordan, and not even Phelps can say that.

I just laugh at people that overlook what the guy has gone through. It may be a dream come true in the minds of your typical American male, but there is no way in hell it is anything but insanely difficult to manage that kind of instant stardom. It obviously happened too early for him to handle like the public expects. ESPN and TMZ will not stop until JFF has been chewed up and spit out. Morons will continue to get their kicks snapping photos and selling them to TMZ.

This is probably it for him in the NFL. I doubt any teams will want to take a flyer on a player who is so public about giving zero ****s as to what his bosses expect him to do.

I know Cleveland was a clown show and Pettine an idiot, but he still should have kept his head down and done what they asked. Publicly flouting their requests is gonna be a huge red flag for any GMs.

It's pretty much Jerry or bust at this point, and my guess is that the coaches and other managers will raise enough of a stink that Jerry well ultimately pass.
C'mon man, admit it. You have no idea how the NFL, and especially Jerry Jones works. JFF will be signed to an NFL rooster for the 2016 season. Don't be ridiculous. The NFL has guys now that make JFF look like a choir boy. You think some of those guys aren't at da skrip club getting their drink on regularly? There is a huge (it will be huge) double standard here folks. JFF's biggest crime so far, let's all be honest, is not producing at the expected level of a second year NFL starting quarterback. If he continues to be a bust on the field, this sort of JFF abuse will continue. If he can find his place, provided he stays out of jail and rehab, NOBODY, say it with me, NOBODY WILL GIVE A FU^CK. Respectfully yours...

I can't help but wonder how this horrible public image is affecting his sponsorships as well. I haven't seen a Heisman House or Snickers commercial with him in it since the rehab incident, there's no way he can still be a draw for people to purchase Nike attire.. how long until he's dropped!?
