After every interview I watched, I always found him to be odd.
It was weird that he he would refer to players older than him as "Kid". Which by the way is the same verbiage the our OC uses. It was almost like he was memorizing a script on how to be a leader. I've had this conversation with different friends over the last 4 months.
(I know I might be making something out of nothing, but he always seemed like a little kid trying to be grown up.)
I noticed the same thing but kept to myself because of all the love he was getting. He was a good player, but seemed to be putting on a front when he was in the public eye. I felt like he was always trying to be humble, complimenting other players as well as himself, but it came off to his teammates as talking down to them (especially when referring to them as "kids") so they didn't buy that crap.
My guess is that he acted like he was the best all the time, but none (or most) of his teammates felt like he had earned that recognition. Once he started struggling his teammates, rather than support him through it, saw it as an opportunity to highlight those struggles to bring him off his high horse. This continued for the rest of the season, resulting in his final decision to GTFO of there.
Edits were for typos, been staring at my computer screen too long today.
