Does our inability to run very well have anything to do with it, or is it because spav can't call the right plays to get us to the promise land? What is missing?

No run game and poor execution. including two receivers almost running into each other.

because Spav has no ****ing clue what to do when the field is compressed. it has less to do with I formation and more to do with our ****ty wr routes.

Everyone here seems to know the answer......the offensive scheme doesn't have a plan for this....no short yardage imagination.
If you highlight everything,...... you have highlighted nothing.
We should just throw it 95 yards each time. That was way easier than trying to score in the red zone.
Because Spav couldn't score in a women's prison with a pocket full of pardons.

This game it was because Vandy has a helluva red zone d. Glad Bertoley is having a great year. For everyone that feels the need to rip on spav thread after thread could you do all of that on one thread and quit cluttering the board. We know our OC has a lot of issues and needs to be replaced. We get it.
You all need to get off Spav's case. Did you not hear the two esteemed announcers tell how great he was...he was the driving force behind Oklahoma's success, UH's success, WVa's success and made Johnny into a Heisman winner? All this before his 30th birthday! WOW, what a guy!

I can't count the number of times we run dumb combo routes where we have two receivers in close proximity.
It makes defending our "version" of the spread easy because we don't create our own space to make easy throws. This gets multiplied further in the red zone because we can't go deep/vertical. Also further amplifies teh difficulty in throwing the ball in this offense when we do almost NOTHING over the middle 1/3 of the field. Makes it real easy for defenses to just stack up press coverage outside and safeties can cheat outside and never have to worry about a deep seam route up the middle by a slot WR or TE.

Early in the season, we scored a TD by throwing to a wide open tight end. I don't think I have seen that play run again this season.

No run game??? Tre has over 100 yards 4 game in a row. When's the last time we ran a bootleg on the goal line? After Tre's 14 yard run to get us down to the 1 yard line, first and goal would've been a perfect opportunity we never do anything out of the ordinary... Bootleg, option, reverse, pass on first down over the middle...

We DID score from the Red Zone ... it just happened to from OUR Red Zone.

If you say so. But that has little/no bearing on the fact that it's a lot easier to run the ball when the formation has 4 WR who are dragging safeties and corners 25-30 yards downfield than it is when all 11 defenders are piled up 8 yards off the LOS.

.....because they are asking a power foward to hit a curve ball.
We are not a power running team and I have no idea why they continue trying to be that, especially on the goal line or short yardage situations.
Hell, our guys don't even know which players to block. The one play they showed against Vandy several times, the guard didn't even attempt to block the d-line and moved on to a LB.
It's just stupid. Throw a fade or a slant. It's what we do.

Our short yardage, or lack thereof, allows D-line to shoot gaps with no threat of a QB sneak or fullback handoff. We hand it off 7 yards deep to a back at a dead stop................inside 5 is dead zone for us. Aggravating to Watch
