Aggieland n the 80's was greatness as Jackie and the FB team made it the place of choice for many a young lady who a just decade or more before would have chosen tu or $mu.

It literally went from an average base of girls on campus, to amazing in about 2 years.... It wax a different campus in '84 than it was in '86.

Places like Ptar and Joe Carney's exploded overnight.

I was at the right place at the exact right time.

Now '89 jr ('17) is carrying on!

Again, God Bless you Coach!!

My best P-Tar story (and to be honest I didn't frequent the place that often, I was more of a Chicken Man) was the night of the 98 BIG XII Championship when we beat KState.

My buddy and I decided we would split one pitcher of Guinness for each quarter of the game. DAMN THING WENT INTO DOUBLE OT!!! and yes we did hit one each for the OTs as well.

You guys can thank me and my buddy for that win. It was clearly on us. You're Welcome

I'm more impressed that you're class of '96, but were still hanging at the P-Tar in 98.

P-tars is the one bar I never went to while I was out there and I always planned to. Guess I'll have to head back up there sometime.

Side note: Anyone going to be out there for St. Pats day?

Yeah Joe owned Blarney Stone. That was the liquor and Carneys was the beer/wine. Blarney Stone got torn down, and Carneys became full liquor probably about 8 or 7 years ago I'd assume.

Ahhh, the p-tar. Nothing like pounding flaming DP's and doing rails there, followed up by a marathon dance-off at Halo, amiriteguys?

My wife and I went to College Station last winter for a random weekend in God's Country! We tried all of the new bars on Northgate (loud thumping music, corner bar, etc). Finally, we needed a taste of the Old Life and headed straight to the Ptarmigan. (In late 80's, we actually called it The Ptarmigan [silent P]...guess New Army struggling to know what that word spells! Ha!)

The only thing missing was Kathy! She was this awesome bartender (who kinda looked like a big ol drag queen, now that I think about it). She would challenge you to a flaming DP race. If she won, you bought her drink. If you won (which NEVER happened) she would buy yours. How that woman drank that many FDPs in a night is still a mystery.

The inside was still dark and red. I'm 46 and actually felt a little young to be in there, but it was great nostalgia. So much fun stopping at The Ptarmigan, having some FDPs, going on to Grahams Central Station, dancing all night, coming back by Ptarmigan after hours for another shot, then stopping at Pepe's Mexican Food for $0.25/burritos. We would buy 40 burritos for $10 and then go play poker. The next morning was always wrought with "Pepe's Revenge".

Ahhhh...what fun!!!
