Wondering the same thing. I live next to Cy Ranch and figured they had a suburban pansy team. They're in the state finals???

Kyler vs. Skyline

How the hell did Cy ranch make it?' They're going to get obliterated, poor guys.
quote:I think a lot of that has to do with the mega schools of DFW. Imagine if Cy-Fair hadn't expanded, and all of Cy Ranch and Cy Woods still went to Cy Fair. That would be a very good team. Imagine if Katy had Cinco and Taylor kids. Imagine if Manvel and Pearland was one school. Imagine if all of the Woodlands had one school.
Its not just Allen.
HS football in general is just a bigger deal in DFW. Generally speaking there are better facilities, bigger crowds, more kids that play, bigger coaching staffs, better coaches pay, and a little more emphasis put on football in the metroplex.
All of this is my opinion. But I am a coach and have coached in both DFW and in the Houston area.

Hasn't beat Liberty Hill... Liberty Hill football > Allen Football
quote:hopefully you don't think Kyler is that big.quote:Yes Allen's stat that benefits them is about 5'11" & 180 lbs.
got it its saturday, cy ranch has two losses, does this benefit Allen??
is there any stats matchup that would favor either one?

Dallas HS football > Houston HS football
Houston suburban school districts build new high schools as quickly as possible. Dallas suburban districts allow their schools to double or triple before splitting them up.
This is very true. Cy-Fair has 10 6A high schools and are building an 11th. The biggest has a few over 3000. Some of those Plano schools are over 6000.
But regardless, I'm shocked that ranch has made it this far. Are there any guys on that team that big schools are recruiting?
quote:That's not the case in Frisco, who is building a new high school every year. And as for Plano, the schools are broken up into 9-10 grade schools, and 11-12 grade senior high schools. There are no 6000 student schools.quote:

quote:Allen High is grades 10-12. 9th grade has their own campus.
6K kids at one HS is a crazy advantage. Are there plans for another HS?
quote:There are no 6000 student Plano campuses but for athletic purposes the kids at the high schools count because they are eligible to play on the senior high school team. For example there are at least 2 bus loads of athletes that are taken from Vines to Plano Senior everyday.quote:That's not the case in Frisco, who is building a new high school every year. Allen is 5 miles north of Plano and about 25 miles north of Dallas.
