It also looks like UT was allowed to use rifles and the refs were actually gators that someone put shirts on. Old Army was some tough SOBs.

I recall that cover was the week of the Arkansas game in 1975. A&M was ranked #2 at the time.

It's crazy to imagine Army #1. That's badass, I think it would be cool if one of the service academies was legit again.

Navy was last ranked in 2004, finishing #24
Army was last ranked in 1996, finishing #25

cool fact,

Air Force got as high as #2 in 1985 and then lost to BYU in the 2nd to last game the season and was kept out of the national championship. They went on to stomp tu in the Bluebonnet bowl.
