Uhm, he works for the school... A&M is notorious for not paying well and has been for quite sometime. Easy to pull this off when everyone wants to work for you, your the only significant employer in the area, and you can hand out lots of other perks (such as free tuition for immediate family) that many institutions have.

Sorry some of you people's friends and a "good Ag" got terminated. It happens all the time. Accept it, deal with it and move on. The school does not owe any former students or Aggie football fans an answer.

Lawsuits or not, making comments about firing staff is never a good move. They won't respond, nor should they.

That said, I heard he was fired because his knees were never dirty enough for a head trainer.

Since I am a real football fan, it will be a shame "Kap" won't be at the annual D-1 Head Athletic Trainer convention at the GRB. Was hoping to get him to sign his rookie card. It is a picture of him placing an ice pack on Texas A&M tackle Mike Robbins.

Why would the athletic department feel the need to release any sort of progress report on employees? There is no need to comment on staff's job performance to the public. Just because you didn't hear negative pub from KK doesn't mean there were bad times. Why would anyone want to bring light to a negative work situation that didn't involve you?

my SWAG is that somebody wanted to replace him with their own guy for similar duties. Probably at a 100k+ salary so you can't justify it unless you cut KK out.

So many idiots on this thread. Y'all rush off to judgement without any facts just making assumptions and getting all PO'd. This Old Army BS does not fit in the competitive world we live in now, if he was let go it was for a reason. When it comes out you will know, if it never does it means he did something he should not have that led to his termination. Either way, trust those in charge or go root for someone else for all I care. You can't make judgments on no information and lot's of pi$$ and vinegar.

What a dumb statement. No employer of any size will EVER release information about why a regular employee is no longer working for the company. It is legally very risky to say anything.

That's why employers do not give references on the record. All they will say is "he worked here until October 31."

I cannot believe this thread is so long. All because a moderately paid long time employee lost his job at A&M? I've worked with lots of "good guys" in my time since graduating in 1980. And plenty of them should have been fired.

Maybe 32 years was five too long. Maybe, just maybe, A&M was too loyal - and was kind to let him work for 32 years. No one here has the HR file on him so no one knows if his termination was just or not.

you clearly missed his point.

there are no known public facts about the case to allow anyone to determine whether it was justified or not. loyalty alone should never be enough to keep someone employed if there are legitimate reasons to terminate said employee. we just don't know.

Cjo, the first and last word out a managers mouth is "loyalty" and yes, I know how balanced and fair some of the red hot ****-don't-stink executives we have posting on this forum. To recap OP:

--This person was way too important to fire during the season. (Turns out he's not involved with football team much)

--this guy is the reason Manziel & Trey were able to play with injuries (turns out he's not Jesus)

--administration refuses to comment (as typical when a person is let go)

I've been reluctant to comment on this thread but all I will say is the timing and way this went down is not representative of normal dismissals of employees with a record of service to a university or other institution. There has to be more to the story.

BMX, there is nothing normal about this but it is the same institution that fired Sherman while he was sitting in a recruit's driveway. So, I guess it is normal so my mistake.
