Do y'all prefer the ring w a diamond or w/o it, I always thought on guys rings they looked a little gaudy myself, but girls rings looked okay with it.

no diamond....you shouldnt need an expensive item to make your ring valuable to you.

I'm c/o '02, and I got mine antiqued with no diamond, to me it's priceless, symbolizes all the blood sweat, good times and bad I had to go through to get it. People here at the office know I'm a Aggie.

I got the medium sized diamond (I can't remember the size now) and am very happy with it. I personally don't like the bigger one that requires a new shield.

Diamond Yes if for no other reason than to reduce wear. I did not have one when I first got mine and it worn down. Since the diamond was added it has protected it to some degree.
Mine is small to keep as much of the shield as possible.

I never even considered a diamond, I just don't think it looks good, but I say if you want a diamond, go with it, you have to look at it for the rest of your life.

I am proud of the wear on my ring. I think the coolest is the old Ag who's ring is hardly recognizable due to the wear.

I say only get a diamond if you go extra innings...i.e., a Masters or something. I say you go with the plain ring for a bachelors and add a diamond to indicate a greater achievement.

I have to say though, if I saw someone who had what looked like an Aggie ring, I would probably think it wasn't because of a diamond.

You can do what I did. I couldn't decide on the diamond and since I was not heavily opinionated one way or the other, I couldn't justify spending the money on the diamond. But, if you decide later that you would like the diamond, you can always put it in later. I have yet to decide that I would like the diamond so mine is still sans diamond.

The Shield and stars have a meaning. If you want to remove that symbolizum from your ring go for it. I don't like the idea though.

Mine's plain with the inky stuff (is that antiqued now?), but I always thought the little, tiny diamond that didn't cover the stars in the shield, only the stripes looked ok.

No diamond... God made those so man could go broke buying them for women.

The diamond in mine came from an earring that belonged to my great-grandmother. Priceless!

Yeah great attitude. I'm taking it to heart. This year, I'm leaving my hat on and staying seated eating my nachos while the rest of you fools do "cheers" (yeah, I'm callin' them cheers because I want to). I'm getting a diamond in mine.. my grandpa's from his Aggie Ring. He was class of '28 and Corp Lieutenant Commander. Is that good bull or what? As for now though, I'm getting antiqued, and am going to add his diamond later at a family party.

By the way, I'm in a Frat... hope that doesn't tarnish the image of how special my Ring is going to be.

.5 carat diamond set in a rebuilt platinum sheild -- the diamond has been in my family for well over 100 years and has it's own story and tradition.

It's just a matter of personal preference.

If you ever decide to put one in your ring, I highly recommend David Gardner's. He did awesome work on mine.
