BTW - what's the excuse for not making the 4 hour drive from Houston to Arlington? That's only about another hour more than Dallas Ags have to drive to our Kyle Field home games...

Thread is about people living in DFW. If you live in DFW, then Arlington is NOT a road game.

FW Ag here. I was offered two $90 nosebleeds two days ago and was about to jump all over them until I realized the game is at 11:00 and I'll be sitting in class. I go to class two days a week, and Saturday is 8:00-1:00, so if I ditch I pretty much miss a week of class. If the game was at 2:30, I'd be there. Losing that game last week, coupled with Arky's 2nd place finish, screwed the whole thing up. 11:00 game just doesn't work out for me. Now that I think about it, I'm not gonna get much done in class anyway since I'll be following on my laptop, so I might as well ditch and come to the game! Save my seat!

I would LOVE to go, but my season tickets at Kyle Field include a 12th Man Foundation donation FOR EACH SEAT. Why should I HAVE to contribute AGAIN to the 12th man foundation just to purchase a ticket? Nope, not gonna do it. As much as I'd LOVE to be there....I'm protesting the ticket prices AND the 12th Man Foundation donation. Last year I did check prices and the prices for other football games at Jerry's World were much cheaper than these two teams. I originally thought I'd purchase tickets on the Arkansas side, then found out their prices were ridiculous as well. Like I said, it's my way of protesting. LOVE the Aggies, have had season tickets for years to Kyle Field, but....

Sounds like a lot of people went and realized it isn't worth their money.

Too much money to sit too far away is a good way to convince people to watch on TV. Lots of people calling people "bad Ags", but it sounds like paying 200 dollars a head to not be able to see the game is the real Aggie joke.

I don't know where you people are parking, but I've never paid more than $30. And that was split 4 ways so no biggie. I think $75 is a huge exaggeration.

Here's another factor I haven't seen mentioned yet:

The venue for the game means more to many Hog fans than it probably does to most Aggie fans.

To a lot of Hog fans, going to Dallas is a 'big deal'. They don't get to go very often--maybe not at all, unless there is a bowl game or other sporting event that serves as their primary purpose for being there.

Unless they live in Nortwest Arkansas, DFW is a good ways away (and it's not exactly 'next door', even in NWA).
An opportunity to go to a large, cosmopolitan area like the Metroplex is an opportunity to go spend at least a couple of days and shop, dine at some of the great restaurants in the area, see a few sights, and just generally take in the whole Dallas experience.

It's like a 'grand adventure'/vacation kind of a deal for many of them.
And for some, it may be one of the few times they'll ever have a chance to vist the 'Big D'.

Even for those who have been numerous times, they never seem to tire of returning.
Why? Because the Hogs have TONS of fond memories of Dallas and the Metroplex.
Cotton Bowl memories which go way back, playing basketball games in Reunion Arena when Eddie Sutton and Nolan Richardson were at the top of their coaching games, christmas shopping there, even kids who went there to attend SMU or TCU or other schools in the area...it all adds up.

Hog fans love going there because they've had lots of success there and only a few memories they'd rather forget. A good number of them probably plan vacation time around the Southwest Classic. Others probably scrimp and save during the year, so they'll have enough to at least drive down for the game and stay overnight.

It's not just another ballgame for most Hog fans. It's an exciting event, a chance to see how well 'one of their own' (Jerry Jones) has done, and an opportunity to enjoy Dallas and all that it offers.

For all of these reasons--if they can afford it--Hog fans will turn out in droves, when the opportunity presents itself.
If this makes them 'rubes' or 'hillbillies', so be it. They don't care. They'll still be there to yell and holler, if they can be.

I am sickened that the Brazos county Ags haven't sold this stadium out. Dallas Ags drive to CS for 6-7 games a year, and you lazy asses can't make one trip?

don't complain, tcu has not sold out the smu game this weekend at reduced capacity (35K) due to stadium construction

Ding. Ding. WINNER.

It doesn't matter who set the price. If they want to sell out the place, they need to lower the prices... supply and demand. I want to go to the game, but I'm not going to spend $500-800 for tickets and parking. I'd rather spend $150 for tickets + gas money and drive to Kyle field.

I've been told that Jerry adds something like an addition $75 on each ticket... Does anyone know if this is true? It doesn't really matter, but I'm curious as to why our tickets prices are so damn high.

Tickets/Parking etc are just way too expensive and being bummed out from OSU loss has kept me way too grounded in reality to give in to the "maybe this a special season after all" impulse buy which now as dead as disco. I can watch yet another disappointing loss from home for free TYVM.

All of the folks in the SEC east of the Mississippi are taking notes and will turn all of these same arguments/reasons around and use them against you when you start asking why the SEC championship game is always in Atlanta instead of in a rotation that includes Jerryworld.

Good job guys.

As previously stated, if you city folk have so much going on that you are unable to appreciate having this game played near you the folks in the smaller communities of Bryan/College Station and Fayetteville would most definitely appreciate the economic boost it would bring.

If someone tells me that the cheapest seat in the first three levels between the endzones is $225, it sure as hell better be either the SEC championship game or a BCS bowl. Those I would pay that kind of $$$ for. A regular season game, not.

I hate to be the one to point this out but if that were a shot of the Dallas skyline with Trinity River flowing through it, this picture would be shot from south Dallas not west Dallas.

The building with the "Light Ball" would be on the far right NOT on the left hand side as shown.

If this is a rendering of the Trinity River pproject, either the mayor plans on flooding south Dallas (which wouldn't be a bad thing) or he wants to move the buildings around to create a nicer skyline.....

you know that you dont have to be a STUDENT to use the student tickets for the arky game right?? they definitely DO NOT check any form of ID what so ever.

If i were you, I'd find a student who is selling theirs for $50 and go. thats cheaper than a seat at kyle.

You know, there are more views of downtown Dallas than just those from I-35. Look, this is during the same flood, with the ball to the right.

South Dallas is great..Bishop Arts and the Methodist hospital district are some of the most beautiful spots in town.

Eventually, this is what the Trinity will look like. They have the bridge built, but have been slow to start the water recreation areas because they had to reinforce the levies. Urban lake with a white water course running parallel to....its still the Trinity, so I don't know if I would actually want to swim in it.

Have you seen those seats? Or more importantly, have you been to Jerry World before? In those nose bleeders you can't actually even see the game and have to watch on it on the big screen.

Why would anyone pay to watch the game on TV AT THE STADIUM when they can watch it for free on TV at home and not have to fight the horrendous traffic?
