Winning ways lead to a rise in the rankings.
In Week 11’s ESPN.com/USA Softball Poll, Texas A&M moved from No. 11 to No. 10 after a 4-0 week, including a sweep of then-No. 14 Mississippi State.
An April surge has put Trisha Ford’s Aggies back inside the top-10, where they debuted to open the 2026 campaign.
Winners of nine straight games, including two sweeps over SEC foes in the Magnolia State, the Maroon & White have caught fire this month.
After a beating top-40 RPI team in Baylor in the midweek, A&M’s top-15 showdown vs. Mississippi State served as a chance to solidify the Aggies’ bid as a potential national seed.
Pitching dominated the first two matchups vs. State, but Sidne Peters and Sydney Lessentine kept the Bulldogs’ bats at bay in each of their complete games.
As for the offense, the first two outings were uncharacteristic. A&M hit .174 as a club on Friday and .158 on Saturday, but the Ags scratched across enough runs to secure the series.
The bats wouldn’t stay contained for long as A&M came from behind to win Sunday’s finale, powered by a nine-run second inning. A Mya Perez grand slam sent Davis Diamond into a frenzy in a highly entertaining matchup.
From March 18 to April 19, Texas A&M’s RPI jumped from 29 to 11, squarely putting them in position to host a regional in the NCAA Tournament and could maybe push into the top-eight seed discussion.
That all depends on whether the winning ways can continue through the last two weekends of SEC play.
