Hornhatinvol (love that handle), I don't mind T-Shirt fans at all. I think they are great. My wife went to TCU and I have grown to love that school a great deal and enjoy attending games on their campus. I guess I am a sort of Horned Frog t-shirt fan in that regard. However, being an Aggie fan does not make you an Aggie - and I believe that is the sentiment being expressed by most of the folks on this forum. I am an Aggie because I graduated from Texas A&M University - College Station. Aggie fans are fantastic and we will take them in all shapes, sizes and colors.

So what you're saying is, ALL of the refs in the SEC sell insurance in Little Rock? Got it.

So far, Arkansas has been by far the worst ambassadors, LSU has been the most volatile (either really good or really bad), and Tennessee, Bama, and MSU have all been pretty good.

Like it or not, the OP made some (not all) good points. We should encourage all the t-shirt fans we can. My wife is one of them. She married me in 1978 while I was still at A&M. In other words, she's been an Aggie fan longer than most of the posters on here have been alive.

BTW, I'm all for this move to the SEC. I think once we're out of tu's shadow we'll grow to what we should have been all along.

Now we have Alex reduced to worrying about the words to our fight song. That's real progress I'd say.

As I expected. Having received my MS degree there many years ago, I know exactly how the hog mentality works and it has never changed.

In a way, I was glad they left the SWC. Now that we are moving to the SEC and having to associate with those mental midgets again just means you just have to speak real s l o w l y.

Yep. I don't mind tshirt fans, but I can't stand tshirt fans who say "stupid aggie" or whatnot when their school is way below a&m's academic standards.

OP, in spite of the flame posts, I think you make some good points. In states like Arkansas, Alabama, Mississippi, with no pro teams, you should expect thousands of die hard t shirt fans.

I really don't mind t shirt fans as long as they are respectful. They just don't have much of a right to talk sh**. Hearing Texas tshirt fans talk smack about how "we" are gonna kill A&M this year and how much "@ggy" sucks is annoying.

You must not have been around long. LSU has one of the worst fanbases in the country. Arkansas doesn't even touch them.

TarponFly - totally understand that only true Aggies are grads of A&M. And yes you're right - you have to welcome those t-shirt fans. After all, I'm sure you would rather have them wearing your colors instead of that light brown they wear (dont' call it orange - that ain't orange!).

I have considered A&M my second team growing up. My grandfather was an Aggie who earned three degrees there. Even my sweet, now-deceased grandmother hated tu. My grandfather even made up a color for their god-awful unis - he called it she-it brennel (I don't have a clue what that is!).

Help me aggies. Doesn't t-shirt fans refer primarily to tu fans who never attended tu? Don't worry you will be just fine. Arkansas' program was down before it entered the SEC. We had coaching and administration issues that were killing us 20 years before we hired Petrino. Take care of yourselve and you will be fine in the SEC.

That's how it's typically used since tu has far and away more fans that didnt attend than any other school in the state but it's not specific to them.
