Dont agree with the Chambless call. He was a stud QB in HS and came here and was turned into a DB, punt returner, and special teams player. He blew his knee out on a kick off coverage and was never really the same.

Its kind of hard to say that he never lived up to his potential when he not only switched positions but switched what side of the ball he played on!

Having said that, he was a beast on the mound for the Ags over at Olsen. But after he got hurt in football after his freshman year he just had nagging injuries the rest of his career. Good guy too!

Adams by a long shot, then Reggie. Although Reggie never got to run the offense he was meant to run, along with Stephen. Randy was a beast, but that knee injury did him in before he really got started.

Ok. Then I'm going with Reggie, even though I was a freshman in 04 and pretty much worshipped the ground he walked on in those days. haha oh my how times have changed...

I believe the Jordan Chambless comment was in answer to the question below, not necessarily saying Chambless was a bust.

early/mid 2000's - what was the white kid's name, DB, 2-sport star (with baseball), couldn't ever get off of the training table?

He would have been a stud, but probably was always going to stop playing football to focus on baseball.

Justin Warren is NOT our all time leader in tackles. Not even close. Not sure where you got that.

It is a little redundant, but Jordan Chambless was a man among boys. The guy started on varsity on the state champion baseball team and made an appearance on the semi-final football team his freshmen year in high school! He was a pure athlete, just like everyone said, when you blow out your knee, then your shoulder, it is hard to run, throw, tackle, pitch, and catch.

"Christ almighty, it's like I'm sittin' here playing cards with my brother's kids or somethin' you nerve-wracking sons-of-b**ches."

Driver.

McCray was just fast. He was not super-elite in high school.

As highly touted as Derek Farmer was I don't think he panned out as well. Maybe a Fran thing, but I was never impressed with him.

Eric Mayes and Jorrie Adams, both goofed up and got kicked off the team. Chris Smith was a HUGE disappointment, but after talking to him I can see why. He hated A&M, his mom made him come to A&M. He wanted to go to Miami

AND, I disagree that Trent Driver never did anything... He caused the fumble of Michael Bishop that we recovered in the 4th quarter of the Big XII Championship and gave us the opportunity to tie the game. Without that play, Sirr Parker never gets the chance to win it for us.

Jessie Cox. He was all over the field late in the '92 season then left amid all the Dallas carter fiasco after that season along with Greg Hill.

Has to be Adams.

We also had a DL from Huntsville (I think) in the early 90's that was supposed to be the best in the nation, don't remember what happened to him. He may have gotten hurt, and I don't equate getting hurt with not panning out.

A lot of the guys being listed weren't even that highly ranked out of high school.

Reggie was a victim of system just like Stephen McGee. I think either of them would have been fantastic in Sherm's system.

Mayes, Farmer? 3-star guys.

Toya's goal-line tackle in the KSU game was just as responsible for our conference championship as Parker's TD.

...and he was a beast in track.

My vote goes to Trent Driver.

Biggest thing he ever did was tackle an LSU punt returner inside the north 1 yard line during a day game. Besides that, special teams guy and nothing more.
