Wow, I paid $400 when I ordered mine in 1981. Can't believe it dropped $160 the next year, even though gold plummeted that year.

Adjusted for inflation, mine was $983.35.

$1050 is totally worth it to have some legendary Aggie bling with '12 on it!

Got mine in fall of 1971. $40.01

Put a diamond in it in 1988 (not my idea). Took it out in 2002. Looks better as originally designed.

Wear it on left hand. No secret society. The answer to why people wear it on left hand: most of them have fat fingers now and had to move it or get it resized.

$975 for class of 2011, ordered in 2010.

In contrast, my Fullerton St ring, class of 1976 and bought in 1975, was $125 and it still looks good today!

Paid $225 for my 10k antiqued "no" diamond ring in spring of 83.....paid more for my senior boots. Both are worth every penny and more!

I order mine in a couple weeks, and I'm totally okay with paying over $1000 for my 2012 ring. WHOOP!

In reference to the Association of Former Students paying a portion of the ring cost. I recall that they did when I got my ring (Class of 1970). I asked my daughter, class of 2003, and she recalled the same thing.

We both may have just thought that or the practice might have been discontinued due to the amount of graduates and the cost of gold. A&M only had around 14,000 students when I graduated and the cost of gold was definitely a lot lower then.

Same thing with Howdy Bibs. The Association used to send a Howdy Bib to a newborn to an Ag. We got one for my daughter. I don't think that practice exists anymore either. If it does, then we need to know because we have another qualifier (5 weeks old now). Whoop!!!!

The Association actually makes quite a bit of money off the ring program, so in no way do they pay for any part of them.

Paid about $125 for mine, Class of '80. But then my brother, Class of '75, took it an went to Rosenberg to put the diamond in it. The diamond cost more than the ring. He did the same thing for my Dad's, Class of '48.

My Dad died in '82, my brother died in '88 (same year my first husband died.) When I remarried ten years later, my Mom gave me my father's ring, and instructed me to have my jeweler friend melt it down and make our wedding rings out of the gold and use the diamond. My husband's mother also sent family jewelry to add. So, not only do I wear my Aggie ring everyday, I wear my Dad's too.

And I know some of you may consider that a sacrilege, but there literally was no family member to have left it to. I'm the only surviving child, neither my brother nor my sister had children.

Aggie by birth, Hawg by marriage! And a Grand 'Ol Dame.

I believe mine was around $350 back in 1990 for 10k through Balfour. I don't care how high the price of gold goes, I will never ever consider selling mine. I will be buried with mine.

Recall mine was about $40. Had my folks mail it to me at Ft. Sill at Army ROTC summer camp No silly ring dunk in those days but did probably celebrate at the beer tent.

BTW, I do wear on the left hand, but I AM a member of the secret society.

Around 175 - 200 in 1980. Immediately put a diamond in it for 90.00. The darn diamond was half the cost of the ring!!!!!! Now appraises at 1400.00. Darn good investment.

Odd bump.

And it's only worth what someone would pay for it.

Mine is priceless because it's not for sale.

I was kind of busy getting my class work done, Had some help from Mom. No big ceremony, just go get it at a building not sure where.

I think it was about $460 in 1984 (10K standard). Blew my mind at that kind of cash. l love it still this day. Glad I could afford it.

Between 200 and 300 in 84. Lost it for a few months late last year. Went to Williams Center and didn't want to pay for new one, but got all of the info. Told my wife to make it my Christmas present. Luckily found it in garage about a week later. VERY happy day around here!!!
