Paid about $125 for mine, Class of '80. But then my brother, Class of '75, took it an went to Rosenberg to put the diamond in it. The diamond cost more than the ring. He did the same thing for my Dad's, Class of '48.
My Dad died in '82, my brother died in '88 (same year my first husband died.) When I remarried ten years later, my Mom gave me my father's ring, and instructed me to have my jeweler friend melt it down and make our wedding rings out of the gold and use the diamond. My husband's mother also sent family jewelry to add. So, not only do I wear my Aggie ring everyday, I wear my Dad's too.
And I know some of you may consider that a sacrilege, but there literally was no family member to have left it to. I'm the only surviving child, neither my brother nor my sister had children.
Aggie by birth, Hawg by marriage! And a Grand 'Ol Dame.
