Was suprised to see the cost of a Men's 10k is now over a grand - yikes! When I got mine in spring '02 I think I paid no more then $350-400.

What was it back in your day?

I would gladly pay up to five grand for it. What else increases in value as quickly as that ring? From a few hundred dollars to priceless the instant you put it on your finger. That being said, I really hope the prices don't jump again in the next 20 days or so before I can order mine.

Nope I'm pretty sure they pay half. It was in the Batt once I think and they're the most reputable source of information short of ReputableBlog (and maybe Wikipedia). Also I hear that if you commit to a lifetime of wearing it on the left hand, it's free.

That's partly true, but you also have to attend the ceremony in the steam tunnels under Cushing.
