I've never really understood dropping the ball like that... if it were me I wouldn't let go of the ball until the ref took it.
It's just a bad camera angle... that's all.

I'd have to see the lateral view (down the goalline).
If the ball is forward of his knee, and his knee shadow is laterally showing even with the goal line then it broke the plane.

wow, I hope coaches drill it into the player's headsin practice to hold on to the ball until they hand or toss it to the ref this next week ....

It looks like it's behind his knee and it's already dropped about a foot and a half dowm from his hand in this frame.
Hey - it doesn't matter for this game. It counted and we won., I just hope the coaches say something about it and not let it happen again.

This nearly happened at BU a couple years ago when Goodson dropped the ball close to the goal line
I saw that when it happened and thought it was too close for comfort.
What if the officials had reviewed it? They had already signaled touchdown and the ball didn't leave the endzone, it stayed there where someone could have picked it up so it couldn't have been called a touchback. I think if anything they would've given A&M the ball on the 1 yard line.

Yes... it would have been our ball at the one.
Wow! Talk about bad ball control and ball protection all night long. Even on our TDs we can't hang on to the ball. That would have made yet another fumble to ever growing list of fumbles and interceptions.

If you watch it from the sideline angle on the highlights, the ball looks to cross the line and then he drops it before his whole body was in. So I think the call would have stood, because it looks like it crossed as he was running, but still no matter if it was in or not, hold on to the football.
