The money will be there redleg. ABC/ESPN will lose a lot more than 20-60 million if the SEC contract is reopened for bid with A&M on board. You are talking 30 million that they had to bid higher to beat fox for the ACC rights, SEC will be much tougher. The money will be there and remember that either their ACC or Big East contract gets torn up if the SEC expands east.

Most Texas fans agree that A&M should get paid the $20 million that was promised. This goes beyond trying to make anyone look bad. Beebe made it clear that $20 million was what TAM could expect by staying in the Big 12 and that is what aggies are entitiled to. I don't have a clue how he will get the money if the Huskers and CU don't pay up, but that is his problem. Texas and OU both have more to gain by keeping the conference together at this time so not taking the money makes the deal more palatable. I'm not saying all Texas fans are looking at this way, but the majority of people I have talked to and the websites are mostly in agreement that the money belongs to A&M.

Most Texas fans hopefully see this conference as a huge fail and Dan Beebe as an idiot.

I mean it's pretty damn obvious.

Most Texas fans are unsettled by the look of the Big 12 conference starting in 2011. It would take an intervention by God to make it stand the test of time. I'm sure the Pac 10, 16 or whatever is in our new future. I do however disagree with your assesment of Dan Beebe being an idiot. Only a select few were happy with the total outcome of those few days in June but to be able to pull off a total change of direction of an out of control locomotive can hardly be accomplished in the hands of an idiot.

But who let the locomotive get out of control in the first place? By the way, I think the better analogy would be a horse drawn buggy. The Big 12 office has not been proactive at all, and in most cases has been very slow to react. That is a result of their need to check in with Austin first----before they can make any major decisions.

Qustion for everyone: When Bill Powers calls Dan Beebe, how high does he jump?

If there was a way to prove that Beebe and Powers were in this together Beebe would certainly loose his job. If this happens there could be a chance that the conference grows stronger in the right direction, its also possible that it just falls apart and everyone will see how poisonous t.u. is to any conference it hangs its hat on.

Seems like the best course for we Ags is to keep the steady drumbeat going (like this excellent thread, thanks) until the October meetings.

According to the latest tally (7700 votes) fully 79% of TexAgs poll voters would prefer that Texas A&M be elsewhere as of the 2012 season. Yes, this is a self-selected (therefore, not statistically valid) sample,
BUT 4 of 5 of some of the most plugged-in Ags
are saying "get us out of the Tiny 12".
That's anecdotally very powerful.

Lobby your Ag friends-men and women- and keep a steady, unyielding pressure on. This is, unfortunately, a marathon, not a sprint.

Make them crack first.

Remember: this should hold true EVEN IF WE WIN THE CONFERENCE TITLE. (no kidding!)

WE are Texas A&M University, a plum for for ANY conference; Powers/Bebee/DeLoss are worried about us. Give them reason to worry.

A plum?

plum = very desirable (roughly)

Happy to clarify. Thought it was commonly used slang?

Or do you think A&M isn't a "plum" pick-up for a conference?

A "plum". Potentially the largest undergrad enrollment in the SEC.
