1310 AM The Ticket is the only thing I listen to!

Jeff Ward when he is on 590 in Austin. He is an ex sip and was their punter or kicker - can't remember. He is not too much of a homer and quite the realist with real insite (he called the Rush deal when it was rumor - there more to the story), the problem is the other goons like Ed suck mack, vince young, sims, cart, and shipley (did you know shipley and cart are roomates and shipley says cart limps all the time - so now we know who pitches and catches) taint.

Lopez's morning show is good on 610 in the mornings, but the best afternoon show is Charlie Parillo HANDS DOWN. I love his witty and sarcastic sense of humor along with his wealth of knowledge. I learn so much on his show.

In the mid day, Monsters of the Midday is a pretty good show with humor and good interviews from 11am-3pm (before Charlie's show).

I've lived in Dallas 10 years and can't stand the ticket. My wife's family think it's the funniest thing on the planet and call themselves P1s, whatever the frak that means.

The ticket reminds me of a 7th grade boys locker room. Sort of sports related, but nobody really knows what they're talking about so they resort to the lowest common denominator of humor. The last time I tried to listen to it, they briefly mentioned a Cowboys final score before going into a 20 minute segment about Leonardo DiCaprio getting drunk at a strip club somewhere, which led into the next segment where they discussed their favorite DFW strip clubs. Wha? Sounded more like National Enquirer radio to me.

My only explanation of its continual success in the ratings is not really an explanation at all. Witness the success of Toby Keith, reality TV, and McDonald's. Just because something is popular doesn't mean it's any good.

Interesting you bring that up. I've found that the people I know who listen to the ticket have the sense of humor that draws them to Larry the Cable Guy and shows like Home Improvement. I prefer shows like The Office and Modern Family.

Jim Rome is like a 1310 that is actually funny

My schedule in Houston:

Mornings: Flip between 1560 and 610 (now that John Lopez has gone to 610).

Late morning/early afternoon: ESPN radio (I used to listen to 790, but now that Lopez has gone to 610, he screwed my schedule). I will flip to 1560 during commericals to catch David Nuno, but I am not a Ken Hoffman fan.

Afternoon/Drive home: Sean and John (they are by far the best for college football, and decent on the rest of Houston sports, so their format work for me). I will flip to 790 for Charlie Palillo during commericals.
