After this spring's allergy season, I decided to give this a go as nothing else was working. I'm about halfway through my first 30ish shots but curious if anyone here has had significant relief from this option? All of my issues were primarily with pollen and mold.

I did but it didn't help much until I was on the maximum dose for several months. After a few years I had a bunch of travel so couldn't do my maintenance for awhile so they wanted to start over. I just didn't want to deal with that. Allergies aren't as bad as before but definitely worse than when I was doing maintenance. Basically giddy up for it to be a very long-term commitment.

Unless you are doing a "rush", expedited protocol, it normally takes about 6 months to start to see benefits and 3-5 years to complete allergy immunotherapy.

They were upfront that everything going on this summer wouldn't have any kind of effect until Spring 2025. I anticipated it to be a long term commitment but glad to hear that someone can actually say they felt some relief. Late Feb thru May this year was brutal.

I did it every 2 weeks for almost 4 years. It changed my life.

I did allergy shots from 2010-2016 mostly due to cedar allergy, then stopped for 8 years and had no issues . This cedar season started having a small amount of congestion so I started shots again. Plan on doing this for another 5-6 years so I can have relief for another 8 years.

Second best thing ive ever done next to LASIK.

Severely allergic to tree pollen, cats, and dust mites. Easter sundays in church was miserable with all the Easter Lillies. Snottin' like a hoar in church. I would take zyrtecs almost daily. After doing shots for close to a year to get onto maintenance I literally never take zyrtec anymore.

I was on maintenance for a few years then went off completely. Was good for maybe 3-4 years until I started feeling the allergies creep back again so started back again. It helps my wife is a allergy PA and I can do all the shots at home though.

Very glad to hear this as LASIK is still one of the best things I've done (12 years ago). Hoping for similar results with these allergy shots. My bad issues were oak and pecan both of which I'm completely surrounded by on a daily basis. Not cedar, surprisingly.

I first did cluster immunotherapy in 2009-2010 with 3 initial large doses and weekly injections, it held for about 7 years. However after that I lived in 2 other states with different allergens which I think stirred things up and maybe "reset" things. When I moved back to TX in 2018, that fall was miserable and it was the first time I needed allergy pills since 2010. I restarted immunotherapy and this time went for the monthly ones since I didn't have time for weeklies. Just got the ok to stop (5 years total). Haven't needed a pill again since 2019 other than on shot days. If your allergies make you miserable, run to your nearest allergist!

You also want to develop a good daily routine.

I take Azelastine (prescription) that is an awesome nose spray
Flonase at night
Pataday 2x day (only at night).
zyrtec on days I mow the lawn

I've been off shots for about 2-3 years at this point and haven't really needed anything further.
