I included her because she's part of the PZ team. Not a judgement of who I like or dislike.

She can be daffy and her talking about how she's a professional cycling racer ad nauseam is tiresome. But I do like how she structures some of her longer climb rides and her Chris Cornell ride is personally one of the best rides I have done.

Doing Christine's Haleakala challenge was the end of the road for me. Great instructor, phenomenal athlete, but just don't like her classes, especially 5 1-hour classes in a row.

It's all of that.. then the non cadence countdown from 10 at the end of a zone 4 push:

7,6.... 5.. 4,3... 2... 1

Like WTF. You mentally prepared for 7 seconds

Everybody has different things they do or don't like about various instructors. I like Christine well enough that I don't avoid her classes when they come up on the pz pack challenge schedule. But my two pet peeves are that she always has to tell you they she was a national champion track racer at least once (usually more) in every class, and I just don't like her music selections that much. Denis is much more my style when it comes to music.

As a musician I couldn't agree more. She'll frequently count down in 4/4 time while a 3/4 song is playing and vice versa and/or do the disjointed thing you mentioned above.

It's like someone who is used to reading off their credit card number in groups of four and then they pay for something with their American Express, panic, and say the numbers all jabberwockied.

My wife and I ordered a Bike + the week before New Years at the Houston Galleria location and delivery is scheduled for 1/20. We spent last weekend converting a guest bedroom into an exercise room. We're very excited to join the cult!

I noticed today that they released a new shoe. It looks great and comes in US sizes, which means half sizes. My wife really needs 7 1/2 , but the previous shoe only came in a 7 or 8 (40 or 41). She went for the larger size knowing that your feet swell a little while working out and the 7 was pretty tight, but the larger size did slip a little on the heel. Has anyone had issues exchanging items with Peloton?

Pulled my ol' Logitech 2.1 gaming speakers out of storage to hook up to the Peloton specifically for Kendall's metal rides. Looking forward to testing them out soon.

I have found that I wish I had ordered a half size smaller. The shoe stretches a little, and the pulling on the upstroke sometimes feels as if I'm about to in-shoe myself.

Just did my first ftp test. I tested slightly lower than what the default was for my age height and weight.
At least I have a benchmark now.

FTPs are brutal, and there's a skill to them that I haven't mastered after 18 months.

Like you said, you've got a baseline now. Stay committed, and you'll see rapid gains, especially early on. A little better every day

I found that making my own playlist for the FTP to play on a portable speaker, turning the volume off on the bike, and just reading the instructor via CC made a big difference in how I endured the tests.

That's a good idea. I usually like Dennis rides for music, but somehow I've had the best luck with Olivia's FTP rides

Be glad they only make it a 20 minute test. The normal test I've used is 10-15' warmup and then a 2x20' with a 2' rest between intervals. Average those two 20' intervals and there's your FTP. Goal is to keep both at as even power as you can. Hurt, hurt, hurts those last 5 - 10 minutes keeping your focus!

Wow...I have seen a 2x8 with a 5 minute rest between and using 90% instead of 95%. Never seen 2x20 with that short of a break. I had always seen the rationale for doing a shorter test as reducing the overall training stress. Doing 2x20 slightly above threshold isn't that terribly different functionally from just doing a 60 min threshold effort.

Yeah, a 2x20 will get you about as close to a 60' threshold without wrecking your day. No need to do any multipliers like the 20' ramp tests. It definitely takes time and knowing your legs / body to keep that effort consistent over 20'.

The TrainerRoad tests are brutal. They ramp by giving you progressively harder 1 min intervals until you fail.

For example, my FTP is around 305 and I failed out at 450 on the last one. Ouch.

I know people who attempt the ramp test on the peloton as well. I haven't seen much on how that compares to the FTP test.
