That is the beauty of the power zone classes...you can trust the process, because you can trust the instructors to follow through on the profile they tell you they are going to do.

Trust is the key factor for me, too. Especially for someone like me who tends to push my limits every chance I get (yes, I'm still working on revising that approach, per my last post on the subject itt lol). I gotta know that the intervals are ironclad, or I'm either going to underwork or overwork. Lot of instructors like to say "I've got you on the time, you just work," but even with instructors I trust (including my wife when she was teaching spin at Gold's Gym), I'm eyeballing that clock like nobody's business, and metering out my energy accordingly. If the time isn't monitored correctly by the instructor, I'll kill myself early and have no legs for the money intervals later on.

I could never teach spin, because I have a selfish mindset when it comes to working out. Mega kudos to instructors like you who are cognizant of the needs of crazy a-holes like yours truly!

Just one example of why I love Cody's rides

This is why I stopped the peloton. I never signed up for a course. I would just pick a random ride and do it. It would be okay, but I got tired of the instructors trying to act like either stand up comedians, karaoke singers or personal therapists. Plus I didn't have anything to really work towards.

Then recently, I found power zone training after reading this thread and am one week into the Discover your power zone course. I really like the structure of the course, and nature of the power zones. Like the instructors say, there's no hiding from your power zone.

That's the thing, though. Peloton has a wide variety of personalities and teaching types.

I'm not a Cody fan and my wife is almost exclusively Cody.

Different strokes.

Yeah I agree. I just had only been exposed to the rah rah side, not the more training focused, coaching format of power zone training.

This. If I'm going mellow and want a good laugh I pick a Cody ride. If I want my a** kicked it's AT or Tunde or Kendall or Olivia. Love the variety!

So do y'all lift weights first or ride first? Or alternate weight lifting days and bike training?

Depends on the ride...if it is a PZ max ride I'm separating them morning and afternoon. I normally do core before riding and will lift before if an endurance ride and after if it is a PZ zone 4 ride

Usually alternate. I also play a lot of pickup bball in between rides.

Weights first. Peloton 3x a week, run on alternates

If I ride on a day I lift it is usually after, and just 20-30. Try to throw in some Peloton runs to switch up the cardio after a lift.

My wife really likes her indoor cycling shoes but they have spd cleats and aren't compatible with delta. We're thinking of buying the pedals that are two sided, spd and delta. Anyone put these on their peloton? Specific brands to stay away from?

Our bike arrives this week. Pretty excited

The bike comes with delta pedals...

Got it. Those are regular SPD.

I see these dual sided pedals you're talking about on amazon. Do you have road shoes(3 bolt), so you both want to keep your current shoes?

Personally I find the road systems to be more comfortable. I think it'd be worth it to find a new set of 3 bolt compatible shoes for her. In the end it may not be much more than the dual sided pedals. And generally I shy away from cheap Chinese bike parts when axle bearings are involved.

Do y'all have other bikes you need to accommodate? I ended up buying a set of Shimano SPD SL pedals for the Peloton just so we'd all have the same shoe/cleat combos be tween me, the wife, and my road bike.

Thanks. I have a road and tri bike and use the shimano spd-sl pedals/cleats. Sorry, I'm terrible with all these damn names. I do have an extra pair of shoes with delta cleats for the peloton. We definitely can buy her new shoes, she just really likes her current new balance ones that are only spd compatible. And I agree about the putting cheap Chinese parts on an expensive bike. Why I asked here. Fwiw, These are the ones we were looking at on Amazon.

Found the clicking in the bearings on the flywheel tonight. Already submitted a support ticket with a video. Any idea how long I can expect to wait on service?

Took about a week for me. This was October 2020. Took the tech about an hour. No issues since.

I did the online chat support, submitted the video while still on the chat, and the rep put in the ticket to ship me a new bearing. I think it shipped out the next day or two, and I replaced it myself.

If you're waiting on a tech to come out, it will obviously be longer, but I'm not sure how long the wait is now.

i'm sure it is back on one of the 89 pages... but did peloton recently make a change to the leader board?

it disappeared from my screen... is that a setting or did they choose to discontinue that feature?

The above link will explain. Yes the scenic selections were neutered, and yes the leaderboard for scenic rides was removed.

Pretty disappointing since I haven't received my Peloton yet, but the scenics were something I was looking forward to on top of the regular classes.

I looked at one scenic ride the first week I had the bike. Wasn't my cup of tea.

Have to think they weren't super popular or Peloton wouldn't have removed them.

To me, the scenics are great for just pure recovery rides. You can just go ride a steady zone 2 pace and enjoy the views. For most other kinds of rides, they didn't really work that well for me.

Got my bike and got two rides in. But have been battling allergies or something from the little ones daycare and those two rides completely zapped me because of it. Taking it easy to kick this crud but hope to be back on it soon
