Trust is the key factor for me, too. Especially for someone like me who tends to push my limits every chance I get (yes, I'm still working on revising that approach, per my last post on the subject itt lol). I gotta know that the intervals are ironclad, or I'm either going to underwork or overwork. Lot of instructors like to say "I've got you on the time, you just work," but even with instructors I trust (including my wife when she was teaching spin at Gold's Gym), I'm eyeballing that clock like nobody's business, and metering out my energy accordingly. If the time isn't monitored correctly by the instructor, I'll kill myself early and have no legs for the money intervals later on.
I could never teach spin, because I have a selfish mindset when it comes to working out. Mega kudos to instructors like you who are cognizant of the needs of crazy a-holes like yours truly!
