Our bike arrived on Monday and the accessories on Tuesday. My wife and I are several rides in already and really enjoy it.

We purchased in the $225(?) accessory pack at the Dallas store and we think you could do it cheaper if you really want to. The pad is nice but could be replaced with a thicker 3' x 6' yoga mat. The weights are the same as you can get at any sporting goods store - just keep the receipt, if they don't fit the storage rack on the bike, return them. I use the heart rate monitor because I already use one at my HIIT gym but my wife probably wont. Now, we didnt get the in-ear headphones, we think, because they fell out of the beat-up shipping box, so we cant speak to their quality (Peloton customer service sending a new pair no questions asked). My wife simply bluetoothed in her $20 soundpeats headphones and they worked great.

Neither of use have clip-on bike shoes so we needed at least one pair, which or course comes with the accessory pack. I've been using my trail-running shoes, which have worked but definitely don't feel optimal. Instead of the Peloton-branded accessories, a second pair of shoes (for me), would have been nice.

Question for those with one - how does the multiple rider situation work? Do you have to have multiple accounts for multiple riders? For instance, would my wife and I each have to sign up for a $39/month account to keep our ride data separate?

Thinking about getting one. Some great info in this thread. I may have missed the answer to my question.

$39/month I think covers up to 10 users (not sure exactly how many). My wife and I both share a bike and it's really simple to switch between profiles.

You can get most of the accessories cheaper elsewhere. The pedals use Look Delta cleats, so any 3 bolt road cycling shoe will work. Just make sure you get the red delta cleats, not the Look Keo cleats. Performance bike has several models for around $60-70. I have a mat that I bought for my trainer bike at Academy that was $30 I think. If you need everything in the package deal it might be a good price as a package though. If you have a Garmin or any other HR monitor that uses Ant+, the HR strap should work with the peleton bike.

We bought our shoes and mat thru Peloton. Also the UrbanEars Hellas (which are wireless, and I really like). No problem staying on, good sound. Got weights at Academy.

Also got a pair of padded bike shorts at Academy. Your ass may be a little sore the first few weeks.

I'd be careful about padded shorts from Academy. This is one area where spending extra $ is worth it. The cheaper padded shorts never did anything for me; in fact, when I tried them I gave up and just rode without a pad because they added to my discomfort. Once I finally spent some real $ I was much more comfortable. (caveat - this was for 2+ hours road riding; imo you can build up a tolerance for an hour spinning at a time pretty easily without a pad)

Thanks for the advice! So far, so good with the Academy bike shorts, but I can see myself getting a better pair soon now that I'm getting more into it.

So I got a shout-out in today's 6am live class.... so I guess I'm a pretty big deal. Ha!

Bought a bike today and tried to use "Dougie777" and "Dougie77" (appears both ways in this thread) however the sales guy said it wasn't coming up. He asked for an email, but I don't know easttexasag's email.

I've messaged easttexasag and two others with stars that are confirmed bike-owners, but y'all have til noon to get back to me before the 24 hours is up. (technically 1:00pm-ish, but let's shoot for noon).

Tryna score me and some other Ag free months...

I changed my name on there to Doug7. It's easier for the instructor to call out during rides. Sorry, I forgot to update this thread.

Just 'followed' you on Peloton. Bike's not even here and I'm getting antsy.

Will call them tomorrow to apply the code.

Doug7, saw you on the leaderboard this morning in Steven Little's class.

Haha awesome. I knew that had to be a TexAger. I was struggling this morning. My 4 year old and 4 month old don't like for me to sleep! Enjoying it so far?

Yeah, it's great. I did hit snooze this morning though. 3 days in a row would be tough and my legs said no. Might ride this evening though.

I also just bought a heart rate monitor so I can make the heart rate rides more meaningful.

I once had a 7 day in a row streak and on day 8 i was feeling pretty beat up.

I think you'll like the HR monitor. Pretty cool to see your real excursion versus perceived.

You were killing it this morning! By the way, I used the chat or camera feature with my cousin (J_M) who was also riding, it was pretty cool.

Thanks! My heart rate was a bit elevated, snuck into Zone 3 for a while. Felt surprisingly good this morning considering that I drank two glasses of wine last night and went to bed late. Ha!

Starting to really like Steven Little's classes. Wasn't a big fan at first, but I like the technical approach to it.

I'm just trying to get my kids to reliably sleep later so I can workout in the mornings...

I find myself liking his classes and Matt Wilpers classes the best. Although I find that Steven Little plays a lot of the same music over and over. I did a Steven Little 60 minute endurance ride yesterday. It was a good workout. I'm finally settling into a good routine... MWF Peloton and T-TR-Saturday Run.

I'm planning to buy one as soon as we get in our new house at end of month. Do I need a Peleton mat, or can I get a cheaper padded mat elsewhere? I want to protect my floors.

Will my current spin shoes work with this bike? They're the standard clip in configuration.

Stardard clips will work. I bought a peloton mat, but any mat should be fine as long as it is appropriately sized. Good luck! I bought the weights at Academy. Got a heart rate monitor on Amazon (not the Peloton brand). For audio, we got the Hellas, and they work great.

For all you Peloton riders that have over 100 rides I have a question. Just hit the 100 ride mark a week ago (AtlantaAggie) and am still absolutely loving it! I've heard a couple of instructors congratulate people when they hit the 100 mark and they say the rider will be getting a tshirt from Peloton.

I can't find anything on their site but is anyone else familiar with this? Or better, has anyone received a tshirt from Peloton for achieving 100 rides?

Congrats. Received mine a while back.
You should receive an email with a weblink and a Promo Code to the email address associated with your account. But only rides are counted, the Beyond the Ride classes dont count. (I'm not sure if the Scenic rides count toward the 100 however.)

Technically, you can get the shirt without the the Promo Code but it costs $100k:

My only complaint about Peloton so far is the fact that I had to pay for shipping on my 100 t-shirt. Kinda took the fun out of it.

Plus, it's not a high quality t-shirt, so it's like getting a crappy t-shirt for 50% off.

Oh well.

Really wanting one. I miss spin and the classes locally aren't convenient. I need a 5 am ride and they don't start til 530. Really hard to bite that initial bullet though

The upfront cost is not cheap... no doubt...

For me though, the investment in my health was easy to justify. I was just flat out not getting enough exercise. Getting in the car and going to a class or a gym in the morning was not feasible, and jogging in my neighborhood was very tough due to all the hills. Too much going on after work with kids activities, dinner, etc.

I roll out of bed at 5:30, and begin riding at 5:45am. Done by 6:30am, as kids are getting up for school. Great feeling to knock out a great workout before the sun is up.

Weekends are great too. Last Saturday, I did a quick 30 minute scenic ride while listening to my own music. It was a great way to change it up a little.

I figure at 117 rides in since February, at $20 each conservatively, I have already paid for the bike. And the instructors are great... there is a style or personality for everyone.

I love early morning spin. I lost 40lbs two years ago with that alone. Haven't been at it in over a year and can feel my clothes shrinking. :p I've looked at lots of bikes in the last few months but I like the idea of the live classes. I'm competitive.
AtlAg75

If you are competitive you will love Peloton. The leaderboard can be very motivating. Even for the recorded classes you can track your progress against others who have taken that class.

106 rides in and loving it. For me it was all about heart health and being "younger next year" (great book for those 40 and over) and well worth the initial and ongoing expense.

The bike is high quality. I didn't shop other bikes, but this one is well made, solid, easy to use and completely silent. You could put it in the bedroom.

Like AtlAg said - the leaderboard can be a great motivator. I typically hide it, as I like to ride for my own metrics, but in the live rides and smaller classes, you can really see your effort paying off when you move up spots.

The live rides are great, but I mentally don't distinguish those from the recorded ones. The only difference is that with a recorded ride you won't get the shout out. But the leaderboard and instruction is the same as it would be live. Soem of the rides are 'fun' and pretty easy. Some of the instructors and programs provide a serious challenge.

My wife and I love the Peloton. The flexibility it affords our schedules, the convenience of being just down the hall and the quality of the bike and instruction differentiate it from anything else I can think of. If you spend time and money now working out or going to spin and you like to spin, its an easy decision. It will pay for itself within a year depending on how much you use it.

I don't mentally distinguish either....... until I do a recorded ride from last Friday on a Monday morning, and the instructor wishes everyone a happy Friday and to have a great weekend! That's a mental slap to the nuts for me.

Sorry for resurrecting a long dead thread, but the wife and I and thinking of getting one of these. Glad to see the positive remarks thus far, anyone have a change of opinion after having one for a while?
