Before you flame me for My previous posts re peloton and their value, I very recently tried it at a hotel while on vacation. While not my cup of tea, I'd like to know if peloton internally calibrates the bikes to account for riders size?
My point is...a 250-300lb guy who can crank out 60+ resistance and crazy kj doesn't really translate to riding a bike on the road when a 150lb guy doesn't have to push twice the weight up a hill.
Feedback?
Like Dave said, no the calibration is not as accurate from bike to bike as something like a dedicated power meter on a road bike. So competing in an absolute sense may not be entirely even. Comparing w/kg is the best way to measure output to remove size, but as he said, there would be some people who would just fudge their weight.
I don't ride to try to be at the top of the leaderboard...I am mostly riding against myself and my own metrics for any given workout. But the beauty of having a few hundred to a few thousand people riding at the same time as you is that there is always somebody nipping at your heels and always somebody just ahead of you. Competing with them is a great way to push a little harder when you are looking for that motivation.
