I'm sorry but, do you REALIZE that there are people who go to ivy leagues and are low-income, first generation??? It's crazy that people forget low-income, first generation students can actually get into these institutions and attend with large scholarships??? I've NEVER had anything handed to me on a silver platter. To put things in perspective, I currently work as a substitute teacher on minimum wage! And again, this car was not for me, but for my significant other who is in a master's program and needs a car to travel to school. We wanted to get a new car to make sure we wouldn't have problems with it until years down the road. The loans from my boyfriend's masters program were going to help with these monthly payments. Honestly, I'm just completely baffled at the fact that once you hear someone has gone to an Ivy League, you either (1) think they come from money or (2) think are ****ty human beings. Your comment speaks volumes to who you are in real life.

I'm sorry Ivy League colleges use students from diverse backgrounds to make themselves look good on paper. I have a Black FB friend who went to Columbia and she's got the biggest anti-wypipo chip on her shoulder. So I know that Ivy League isn't the golden ticket that most of us are led to believe.

The fact that you're using student loans to payoff a loan on a car just boggles my mind. At a restaurant, I don't even tip on the tax, much less take out an interest bearing loan to payoff another interest bearing loan.

Look, most of us have been where you are. I waited to go to grad school until I could afford an Executive MBA program.

When I was first out of school and looking for a job, I also did substitute teaching. In fact, no lie, I was a substitute Spanish Teacher in High School during a school shooting (Round Rock McNeil HS). Was an accidental discharge that hit two kids.

You're lucky you stumbled on to this board as we can probably help.

But, ranting on the TexAgs about how you shot yourself in the foot while trying to do something that would be a poor financial decision. Well, that's going to draw some attention.

If you want to come over to the house, I've got a 1999 Ford Expedition with 237,000 miles on the odometer that got both of my kids through college. I'd consider loaning it to you for some period of time until you can get on your feet. But, at 13 mpg, it's probably not too appealing since it would cost at least $500 to drive it to Texas.

Unfortunately for the OP, she discovered that Keating will screw anyone over. She was also saved from purchasing $2700 in worthless crap added onto the deal.

Sorry that it cost you $300 to learn this lesson, but you saved money in the long run.

My grandparents would have tried to resolve the situation like adults before sending a blast "Letter to the Editor" to the Sunday paper. That's my problem, and I'm probably not alone. If you're going to run people through the mud, at least give them a chace to make it right first. If they choose not to, then have at it. They can't say anything because you gave them a chance and they chose to ignore it.

And I think she probably lost some others when she admitted her boyfriend was going to use student loan money to help pay for the car. Doing so why the yahoos in DC want to use tax payer money to forgive student loan debt for people who made poor choices. I had leftover money each semester from my loans. Instead of taking it and living large, I gave it back and only took what was needed for tuition and fees. 4.5 years of college with a tik over $20k in loans.

If the dealership hadn't done what they apparently did they wouldn't have had to try to "make it right" would they? They started the fracas.......the dealership is not the victim here....and apparently my point flew right over your head.

Never said the dealership is the victim here. Did she escalate to the GM to try to have it made right? Nope. She came on here and started blasting them, and when she found out the GM was a poster on here, she started blasting him and making ignorant comments about him. That's the issue. She made it personal with someone who may not even know what happened.
