I'm getting real tired of retiring good Volvos.

The first car we bought our oldest was a white 6 year old 2002 S60. I saw a couple of S60s involved in side impacts at a local indy shop before deciding on a Volvo. It was a mechanical nightmare at times but drove well and the seat comfort was top notch. The best seats of any car I've owned. That car got passed down to the youngest who drove it until it was totaled by a hailstorm. Both kids loved that car. The styling was distinctive but cool.

The indy mechanic we used had free loaners and they were all older Volvo wagons. Absolute tanks and fun to drive.

3 years ago when looking for a car for myself I REALLY wanted a Volvo Wagon Cross Country. Came close to buying a couple of times but didn't work out. Ended up with a 6 year old Lexus 300h.
The 2002 through as late as 2013 models were really good cars BUT you had to keep up the maintenance. They were not very tolerant of missed oil/belt/fluid changes. Also things like the PCV system and bushings.

The cars drive wonderfully and truly do have the best seats ever. The non turbo, fwd only models got pretty good MPG too. Could be 28-30 highway when they were tuned up and working properly.

There is a cult-like following for the XC70's now. Those are great cars.....

Dang y'all. I couldn't tell the extent of the damage in the dark and tall grass.

Have they found the other car yet?

Do you need the OB on this?

They found the car at the registered driver's house, but when they knocked he didn't come out. That's the last I heard.

I probably won't know anything until late next week. I understand that CSPD is averaging around 10 days to issue the report. That's when I get his name and insurance info.

10 days is pretty standard for the cr-3 crash report to be produced.

Glad everyone was ok. As a child of the 80s this immediately came to mind

Here is the movie clip from 1990

That is a very hard hit. I hope he has good insurance. I'm sure they won't give you much for the car, but the medical bills will rack up. Glad she wasn't hurt worse than she was.

Man isn't this the truth. A 91 with 300k is gonna get you a seriously insulting set of comps and so much frustration. Hope you find a good home for your parts when it's all said and done

Yeah I'm trying to gather all the receipts and whatnot. We had been putting money into it over the last year. Full rebuilt suspension, trans serviced, lots of little maintenance stuff.

Was hoping to take it to Radwood this year.

Even with 300k miles the drivetrain was solid. Had some piston slap which is common on early turbo cars of all makes. It makes noise, but doesn't seem to effect anything else about how it runs. This car ran like a swiss watch. A noisy, swiss watch.

I sure miss the 740GLE turbo diesel wagon I had. Not much on amenities but it was one solid car, lots of room, and great to drive. Easy to wrench for the most part too. I don't miss the black soot in the garage though.

Might want to edit out your plate.
I've always wondered, why?

I mean... you drive around without your plate covered. Anyone could record your plate... run it through someone in the carpet biz... find out where you live... wreak havoc. Usually doesn't happen that way. However, take a pic of your car and post it... sans something covering the plate... and havoc is around the corner?

Maybe I'm mising something, but always I've thought covering the plate is ridiculous.

Word?

I feel like this is a bigger problem in print than it is in real life. Those doxxers only have power online. If you are a person with secrets, or some hidden shame, etc, they can make it known to the world. If you are a decent sort a fella then what power do they have?

Anyone who discovers details about my personal life is free to call or come over and talk about it face to face. We'll either get along as friends or we'll settle it with the Texas three-kick rule....

I daily an 88 240.
Impressive.
Thanks!

My 240 and my Son's 83 944. My Daughter's 740 was going to go to this show next year (Radwood).

I have some early 944 parts that I'm getting ready to put up on facebook for free. A complete and intact console/armrest (black), NOS switch blanks, turn signal and wiper switches, couple of window regulators, rear wiper assembly, rebuildable late starter (much lighter than early ones), oil pressure gauge, misc. other small stuff. If you want anything I can send it if you cover shipping.

I sold my 924S with the intention of getting a late 944 someday but that was 14 years ago. Pretty safe to say that's not going to happen at this point.

Send me an email at HighSPL [at) g mail (dot] com

We have another beater 83 that has no interior. The plan right now is to put an 07k in it and make it a track car.
