We went down to 1 car from 2 (started a new job with company vehicle) and only saved about 25%

With vehicles, parts, and labor skyrocketing, it's going to pull insurance rates up as well.

No doubt, just didn't expect this amount of sticker shock. The previous renewal was up ~10%. The Geico rep said the underwriters submitted a rate increase to the state of Tx so there was really nothing they could do, except offer their "safe driving monitoring" to save ~$150 every term. No thanks.

Ours went up pretty significantly with Travelers. So my broker shopped and got it back to where it was with Progressive.

Shop it around, I've had increases over the years with an excuse of 'rate are up throughout the state for one reason or another...' I think Insurance.com returns a comparison and CostCo has referrals too.

Huge rate increases coming. Massive rate insufficiency in the industry.

Some companies may delay it, but it will just make their rate insufficiency worse.

No company can avoid it in this environment

Anyone with Geico please drop them now. They are the worst insurance company if you ever need them to pay out on your policy. There is not one body shop in BCS who wants a Geico job.

I haven't had a significant rate increase with USAA in the last 10 years. Will be interesting to see what my renewal in November looks like. I have 6 cars insured w/full coverage for ~$150 a month.

I'm really interested to see what my Hagerty policy looks like when it renews next year. Currently paying $75/mo for full coverage on my M6 but it's my first year using Hagerty for "collector" insurance.

Over 20 years of owning a body shop and dealing with every insurance company out there makes me say this. I'm friends with pretty much every body shop owner in town and not one of them is excited when a Geico job comes in the door. Even the local chain shop has kicked them out.

Geico will go to the ends of the Earth to find the cheapest junk parts to put on your vehicle. I've heard "we don't pay for that" from almost every Geico adjuster I've dealt with. I like to fix cars the right way, not the way they want me to fix them.

It's not worth it for me to deal with them because they refuse to repair a car the right way. When a customer walks in my shop with a Geico estimate, I tell them I will fight to get everything paid for that I can, but after that, the customer will have to pay out of pocket for the items Geico won't cover. I'm not the only shop in town that has that policy with them now.

I've been using JC Taylor with a collector policy on my 95 Cobra and they were about 1/2 the price of Hagerty when I switched 3 years ago. Had a windshield claim which they paid with no questions asked except to provide a picture of the damage. Just an alternative in case Hagerty has a large increase. It'll probably be a few months before I get my JC renewal. USAA was expensive years back when i quoted with them but it may be worth another shot.

My premium doubled, Geic0, 3K for 6 mos with 6 vehicles, 5 full coverage.

Zero accidents, zero tickets.

I switched to progressive, less than half the cost of Geicos renewal price with MORE coverage.

I also shop every 6 mos just to keep everyone in check.

Interesting, I didn't price them. Grundy was actually cheaper than Hagarty but I wasn't impressed with their onboarding process.

USAA wanted $1800 a year for the same coverage as Hagerty for $900. I also got quotes from american collectors and they were only ~$300 cheaper than a full USAA policy. Was a bit surprising. Amica wanted $2500.

I had a car stolen back in 2006 (just months after graduating and starting a career). Geico took 8 weeks to cut me a check for the car. They wouldn't pay on it until the car was found, and even then it took weeks to get the check. I had 30 days of rental car coverage on my insurance, but everything after that was on me.

The most annoying part is the Geico rep that I was dealing with essentially was accusing me of stealing my own vehicle and trying to scam them.

I have a buddy that worked in body shops for a while. He'd also tell you Geico is the absolute worst to deal with. $10k of damage, they'll offer $5k and tell the shop to figure it out.

I just did the same. Had the Pacifica and Tesla on Full Coverage w/ 1k deductible and the LandCruiser on liability only with Geico.

Switched to Progressive, full coverage on all three and 500 deductible for about half of Geico. Came out to ~800 for 6mo with Progressive.

Not sure how rating is so different, but similar coverage to 1ags (travel trailer vs 6th car, all full coverage at levels to carry umbrella)…and Geico just increased 10% to $1800 for 6months. My dad totaled one of our cars 6months ago under our policy and they covered it quickly/well.
Good luck…Just shopped again 2months ago and no one can touch Geico (Liere, goosehead, Farners, couple others just to be sure 50%+ more??) even bundled. I'm in insurance, not P&c though…but the differences I see from most insurers is interesting.
Oh, will never use Progressive for all reasons above (horrible claims experiences way back), namely telling me I stole my own car too…

We did this going from Travelers to Progressive. Saved a ton -- I almost feel like they did it to lure us in. Our rate went up $628 this year..... about 40% now that I"m looking at it.

I don't think that would be the consensus of a group of body shop managers

Wasnt that Geico?

I've had to use both for Claims service and found both to be about the same.

Not a bad experience. Both times I went through TVF body shop and had zero issues or pushback. One repair, I did pay the difference for an OEM part over an aftermarket part. Delta was 29 bucks.
