A series III with options is basically a Yukon Denali fully-loaded...
It will have everything the Denali with a few differences.
Denali has the rearview mirror camera and folding mirrors. Wagoneer doesn't have folding mirrors. They will change that in upcoming models - big time blowback from people.
We've got almost 10k miles on ours and really do love it. It's grown on me but gdamn they're expensive. However, a fully-loaded Denali costs about the exact same, maybe a little less MSRP.
Things I do like:
- Handles magnificently - doesn't feel like you're driving a 400HP 214" long 6,000lb tank. It drives like a car and has an insane turning radius.
- Air ride suspension is very, VERY smooth. When raised, it has the highest ground clearance in it's class - over 10". We did some very mild off-roading in it this summer in Colorado and it was masterful.
- Plenty of power pushing down the highway. We had 6 people, 2 dogs, 2 sets of golf clubs and full luggage cruising down the highway at 85mph to Colorado and back. Plenty of pick-up.
- Interior, dash, user interface feels much more premium than even the Denali. WAY better than the tahoe and old expy's. New Expeditions look tesla-like with the massive touch screen upgrade.
- Roof racks are included and have a storage bin under the back cargo area to hide away.
- A LOT of space behind the 3rd row... more than the denali/tahoe and way more than previous models of the fullsize SUV (outside the XL's)
- 3rd row reclines. I rode in the back some on our trip and felt very comfortable. Seats are premium.
Things I don't like:
- It's improving but dealers don't know dick about these things.
- Tow package is damn near impossible to find and I couldn't order one with it
- "Option" packages are too grouped and not enough a-la-carte. Want the moon roof? you HAVE to get the 22' wheels, automatic running boards and upgraded sound system.
- Only one drive-train option. Maybe they'll put the new twin turbo Hurricane in these - said to be replacing the 6.4L V8 in the Grand Wagoneer.
- The 5.7L Hemi is powerful but it guzzles gas. We're only getting about 15-17 MPG - mostly city driving but the 1600mi trip to Colorado we averaged just over 18. It's sweet spot is about 65-70mph. Doing 80 or 80+ really sucked gas with the 8 speed transmission.
- New UConnect5 system (media interface) is a bit finnicky and buggy. I'm sure they're working on it.
- Connected Services (app with remote start and what not) only comes 6 months free... then it's like $10/month. A lot of car mfg.s are going this route.
- Forced 22" wheels when I wanted 20s or 18s for better tires and real off-roading.
All that being said... these things turn heads and I've had a lot of people come up to us and ask about it. I think they look way better than the Grand Wagoneer with less chrome. We have the Baltic Sea gray color... I really wanted the deep red. Saw one the other day and the red looks sexy.
