I'm looking for diesel mechanic recommendations in Katy or West Houston. Someone other than the ford dealership. I haven't had the best of luck with them. I have a 2014 F-250 Superduty that I believe might have an exhaust leak. Would also be nice to have a reputable mechanic as more issues might arise with my aging truck.

Got any suggestions?

I always used Powerstroke Magic when I had my 6.0. They are solid and have a good reputation as Superduty specialists. At the time they were very reasonable as well.

Google says they are on Grant Road now, which seems like a different location but I haven't had that truck since 2014.

Anyone can find an exhaust leak.

They moved and are pretty cocky now.

Friends truck recently stalled on 249 and had it towed there, they charged him almost a grand for a used PCM.

Yikes. Good to know in the unlikely event I end up with another Power Stroke.

If you are looking for a good and honest diesel Mechanic I will tell you three that I have used in the past. In Katy there is Autotechtronics (281) 391-7617 talk to Richard Gruner the owner. I also highly recommend Universal Automotive in Sealy Texas. Jude the owner is a diesel genius. I would also highly recommend Brast and Sons in Cat Spring. Diesel trucks is all they do. Cheaper prices in the country on labor and parts I have found.

Yes. Indeed they are high dollar. My truck is there now. They are good and up front with repair costs. They will give you the diagnosis and all of your options.

Call them first and talk to them. This is not a place you drop off your truck today, have a diagnosis after noon and get it repaired to have your truck back in three days. They are busy and may be working on reduced staff.

If you don't get recs for shops, you'll need to go talk to them in person. Any diesel shop that will discuss modifying engines to circumvent epa stuff (like we all want) over the phone hasn't been in business long enough to know better and that's not the shop you want.
