No, they are not fun to drive in town. Anyone that says anything different is lying to you. We can start with not being able to see anything. Then we can talk about stiffness. Then we can discuss ground clearance issues that arise quite often. On and on.

Visability is good, dampers can be set softer at the flip of a switch and it has a nose lift system so those concerns aren't deal breakers, I just hate driving fast cars slow.

Do you plan on tracking it at all? We had a 458 out with us (PCA) at COTA last summer and it was dead sexy.

Nope, having two young children and increasing responsibilities at work have all but shut down my opportunities to hit the track. This will be for the backroads and C&C shows.

How does insurance work for these cars? Just a simple quote like you normally would? Is it significantly more expensive?

Yes and no. It was incredibly high through my usual insurer so I called some friends that have exotics and was pointed towards an insurer in the Dallas area that specializes in agreed upon value policies for exotics and it was quite reasonable. 180$ a month or so on an accident/ticket free driving record.

Take a picture of it parked in your living room and then I'll be impressed.

Assuming that you have a daily and a car like this, you can add it to your general coverage, but it is very expensive for what you get. Most people have a mileage limited side policy with a company like Grundy.

Very nice...the 458 in Blue Mirabeau is next on my list if I ever get rid of the 360.

Drove a friends 458 and it was just awesome. Sound is fantastic and brakes are unbelievable.

Several companies offer agreed value Insurance policies. Hagerty usually has decent rates. I get mine thru American Collectors, but I had to talk them into my car being "rare" since it's not old. Rare being a manual in lieu of F1.

Join the local Ferrari Club America. The local club here in KC does stuff every month from dinners, drives, garage-mahal hours, etc...Most of them are pretty nice people.

It's when the Italian electronics break and you need the Ferrari Specific machine to "reset" everything that it get's expensive.

Thanks you'll love it. I've been on the board of the Houston Viper Club for the last 8 years, over the club thing for awhile, I do know the local F car club guys though.
