I drove my 40 to town on Sunday afternoon to fetch a new alternator for my project truck. I am still amazed at how smooth it runs after the refit of '21 and '22. Some projects provide a sense of fulfillment beyond the investment and some just become permaprojects. I can say that my FJ40 is certainly the first. I was driving to town and I thought it was running a little rough as I approached the red light - and then it died. I knew what it was, idle solenoid lost power, reach under dash, touch the second fuse from the bottom, wiggle it a little… and away we go! lol.
Oh, there is plenty left to work on when the urge hits: needs some body work, a new headliner, and install that new fuse block I bought; but man is it fun to drive in the interim.
I know, cool story - but the heat of summer has me longing for a mountain trip this fall.
