I wanna do something different because having to remove the radiator to remove the hose is not my favorite thing.

It's not close to you, but this is an old school guy in Houston that could probably take care of you.

By any chance, do you know which Derale unit you have? Seeing as how I've removed so much to remove the hose, I'm going to heed your suggestion and replace the radiator.

Also going to replace cooling coils, heater core, and a lot of the hoses. Might as well do it all now while I have it open.

I think I have a Derale 13260 on the FZJ.. The reservoir is a little longer than the fins.

As I wait for a new power steering hose to be made, I just ordered a bunch of stuff and started replacing just about anything I could reach. I've never been so attracted to an alternator.

Idk who needs to hear this, but if you are swapping axle housings on your land cruiser, make sure you pull all your shop towels out of the housing before you bolt up the carrier assembly or your axle won't go into the diff.

I feel like I watched a Just Rolled In YouTube video.

I can hear the narrator - "Customer states: axle won't go in the diff."

That's what I get for rushing work with so little free time. Another learning point: after spending probably two hours scrubbing and wire wheeling all my original hardware, I ordered all new stuff from Partsouq. Last time I did knuckles, I didn't even know what Partsouq or the EPC was so I won't make that mistake again.

The drivers side is done but I ran out of knuckle shims for the passenger side. I'm using a knuckle centering tool since it's a new housing. Got some extra shims from a friend and should have it done this weekend. Then connect the steering linkage and install the new stabilizer, set toe, install my new brake lines and bleed, then wait for the front shocks to come in the mail. And can't forget to put gear oil in that diff.

Couldn't get it to work, but I was able to build one out here.

What other vehicle lasts that long with that many miles and still has some residual value?

I just bought my 2003 with 305k for a 8k. If I didn't enjoy driving it so much I would consider flipping it for 14k.

I'm still trying to figure out how to replace the stereo. I keep reading the Tesla style ones are glitchy.

I just want CarPlay. Has anyone had any luck changing there's out? I have the unit with Nav and HVAC built in. It's going to be a pain in the ass.

If any 80 series guys on here are thinking about ordering some Denso headlights, let me know. I just replaced mine, and I ordered a set with the pig tail adapters for American models. I'll send them to you and you can save $50.

Premium package has a couple things I'd prefer to not have. Sun roof and digital rear view mirror.

man you should absolutely want the digital rearview mirror. I understand the reluctance from everyone, but I challenge you to spend a couple weeks with it and not like it.

For those that have been to Big Bend, what rough roads/trails did you take your Landcrusier down? A group of us bring dual sports and have a blast, but has anyone tried Black Gap in a Cruiser? I talked to a guy in a stock GX on River Rd West yesterday and he was having a blast, Talley camp was as far as his group was going though.

Unless it has recently rained, all roads in BBNP should be accessible by a LC with quality all terrain truck tires.

P rated tires should be avoided due to their thin sidewalls.

The one "obstacle" on Black Gap is a small climb that is shouldn't be an issue for most LC's.

How about a stock Tacoma TRD Offroad? I don't have that beefy a tire and have no real offroad driving experience.

When you say that, which tires are you running?

Cooper Discoverer AT3 4S. It's billed as an all-terrain tire but it has a SL load range.

I'd be wary given the thin sidewalls, but take it easy and be sure your spare is in good condition.

Naveronski is our resident Big Bend expert and is spot on. Your taco can handle every road in the park, probably in 2wd. Have a way to air down and up, have a tire repair kit and know how to use it and a good spare. I've done black gap in both of my trucks and it's fine. There are some fun obstacles near the gap as well. I think I have done all the roads in the NP except Old Ore in it's entirety, have not been to the state park yet.

Camp at Talley a few years ago, where that GX was headed.

Man, they've really filled in the gap since my last trip there. I had my F250 in 4-low to crawl up it.

In other news, I've got my 100 back in BCS after having it stored in my parent's barn for the last two years. Got a whopping 13.2mpg on the drive back Sunday night.

My 100 averaged 12.8 MPG over 30K miles.

Which was better than my 80 which averaged 11.1.

But not as good as my Sequoia (no longer an LC in the family) that is getting 13.7.

Has anyone been paying attention to 80-series values? I might have to sell mine and am curious if prices are trending down, holding flat, or edging up.

Any particular shop in BCS y'all would recommend taking my 100 series to for an evaluation and repairs? I'm planning on DD'ing it for a while to get out of a vehicle payment. Among other things, it needs CVs and has a leak from the engine block. I'd like to have someone look over it and provide a list of things needing fixed.

BCS Automotive seems to be the most generally referred to mechanic in the Aggieland board. Also looking at The Right Shop because it's close to my house.
