We usually do a condo in Port A but are looking for something a little closer to home (Central Texas).

Would like something nice for the family with beachfront access. Does that exist in Rockport? We've never stopped in Rockport so we don't really know what it's like there.

TIA

Rockport has a real nice public beach. I don't think there are any places to stay on the beach, but Key Allegro has rentals that are nice and about 5 min away.

Love Rockport, but if by beach you mean access to Gulf of Mexico, then there is none. We are on Aransas Bay. We have a beach, but not a gulf beach. There is no housing of any kind on the beach. However, for families, Rockport is very nice, and not near the rock and roll, tee shirt sales on ever corner, tourist site that Port A is.

You Rockport is definitely more family oriented but doesn't have the beach. What's considered the beach in Rockport is a flat bay. You walk out 100 yards and water still only touches your knee. We just got a place in Port A that's for rent if interested. Brand new complex with an awesome pool.

Laguna Reef on Water Street is right on the water and a wonderful place for families.
