Need dining options for the families of our football team traveling there tomorrow. Best choices for steak, seafood, Mexican and Italian. What say you, Texags?

Floyd's for seafood, Chedddars for casual steaks, hamburgers, etc. Chains like Carabbas or Johnny Carinos for Italian, or a good local place is Frankie's. Willie Rays or Fat Macs for BBQ.

Another vote for Floyd's.

I haven't been there in years, but The Tamale Co. had some great gumbo back in the day.

I'd say Floyd's for seafood. You also have Pappadeaux's. Elena's is good for Mexican food. For Italian food, Joe's is good. It's not an upscale restaurant, but the food is incredible. Willie Rays is the suck for BBQ. I still don't know what people see in the place. Its BBQ is some of the worst I've had. Novrosky's is good for a burger.

The location on Calder is still closed from Ike but they are working on it so that is a good sign. How about Hamburger Depot for a burger? That is some good stuff!

Never been to Hamburger Depot. Dippity's in Lumberton has a good burger. Back in the day I could finish off their huge burger loaded with jalepenos. Don't remember the name of it. Speaking of jalepenos, they now serve fried sliced jalepenos. Pretty good stuff. For Mexican food I also like Carlito's. But, the quality of their food has gone down recently. Don't know what the deal is there.

Is the J&J restaraunt still open? Used to be friends with the family that owned it. Nice folks

Floyd's was a good choice.

Suga's is pretty good, but overpriced. Seems out of place in downtown Beaumont...

Joe's Crab Shack here sucks.

Rao's was a cool place to get a quick sandwich and tea.

And apparently, even parking in front of the Police Department does not keep your car safe from burglary.

I almost said that PTA was thoed in my earlier post. My memories of playing James Gamble and the Bees at Lincoln was definitely thoed.

Beaumont is sort of like a small Houston except you can wear a golf hat to the bar and fit in fine. That's really the only difference.

Oh, and Chaba's is the best restaurant in Beaumont.

Book it.

yummy Thai food on Lucas where the old Baskin Robbins used to be. I recommend #23, Level 2 - delicious! Also, you can bring your own wine, and a Chateau Ste. Michelle reisling goes splendid with said entree. Just walk over to Sam's Package store - they can recommend a bevy to go with anything.

It's in my opinion, all things considered, the worst city in Texas...

Worse than Lubbock??? Lubbock is hands down the worst city in Texas IMHO. And not just because the tards concentrate there. I also think that Brownsville, Laredo, San Angelo, and Amarillo are worse than Beaumont. You can throw Midland/Odessa, Andrews and Waco in there, too.

Laredo is pretty scary, true that.

I'm a little surprised Sartin's hasn't gotten a mention here. Granted I haven't been to it since they moved to the location between Calder and Phelan but if it's even half as good as it was on the EastTex Freeway it's worth a try three or four times, especially the special. A little pricey but you get to continue eating until you are too full to move or burst. I still remember the one in Sabine Pass when you had to have a certain number of people to order it, I think 10-15, but that was the best seafood I ever had. Of course the fact that they had their own dock on the ship channel helped.

1978oldag, Sartin's West is the location in the westend, it is good but they charge you extra for the crabs now. It gets pretty packed in that old Cody's location. Someone opened a location on College St. that is supposed to be like the original Sartin's, but they couldn't use the Sartin's name because they had sold it to the Sartin's West people- or something like that anyway. I haven't been there to try it. We've been hanging out more at Carrabbas or Poblano Grill these days.
