how were the greens at TH as far as speed?

If I remember right some of the greens had just been watered since we had an 8 AM tee time making them a bit slow, yet some of the greens were very dry making them rather fast. It was hard to judge them that morning since we couldn't tell which ones had been watered and which ones had. We also were just there to have a good time - nobody was really keeping score.

There was also quite a bit of construction going on right on top of the course (looking like a new subdivision) so that made for a so/so experience.

I would give TH a 6-7/10

If any of you grew up in the Valley, did you play in any of the summer golf tournaments? Each week (Mondays and Fridays), there were 2 tournaments in a different Valley city. I played with some pretty good golfers (Albert Ochoa - TCU, Anthony Rodriguez - TAMU, etc.) who went on to play in college and was wondering if any of you played.

i played, but i believe it was only on Tuesdays. Albert is about 3 years older than me though. he definitely has the game to at least be competitive on the Nationwide Tour. his 64 in the 1997 Public Links is tied for the best score ever for the event.

Anybody played Seven Oaks lately?

I know it can get pretty crappy out there sometimes maintenance wise. I like the layout and the fact that it's often empty.

MCC was closed for a tourney so I went out to Seven Oaks to see how it was doing. New owners as of 6 months ago and a new course super from Harlingen CC has that place looking good. I saw 2 people on the back 9 and that was it. Finished in less than 2 hours.

The greens were in great shape except maybe 1 hole where it was a little bit patchy but still rolled smooth.

Oh yea - 2nd best part: $16 for a single with cart.

I had 8 pars which is mighty good for me.

just a quick update, since this thread is golf-related. i won the Houston qualifier for the REMAX Long Drive Championship yesterday, and i am defending my local title in the Pinnacle Exceptional Driver Championship this weekend. hopefully, i can do my part to represent A&M with a solid 1-2 punch along with Clayton Berger (World Long Drive Champ from a couple years ago).
