has anyone played Tierra Santa, Treasure Hills, or the Island course lately? if so, are the fairways and greens in good shape? i don't feel like playing HCC more than once this weekend, so i am trying to decide what other course(s) to play? i haven't been down since Christmas, so i have no idea how the courses are playing.
gurm,
if your simplicity comment was directed at me, it's not relevant as i never said I "loved" valley courses. no biggie, though. personally, i'd rather have to work hard to break 70 on tough courses than shoot an easy 67-69 every other round on easier courses like Tierra Santa and Treasure Hills. my game is a bit rusty after a month layoff due to finals, so i think Tierra Santa might be a slump-buster. i have to avenge the round i had there over the X-Mas break.... i hit 17 greens (including 6 eagle putts; 3 of which were inside 15 feet), had 40 putts, and effectively turned 61 into 71. it was the best ball-striking round of my life, as well as the worst putting round of my life. it's not like i had long birdie putts either; my longest one was about 20 feet. oh, i forgot to disclaim that i didn't play the tips (played the 6600 tees instead) because i played with my old man. i rebounded and shot a career-best 62 at Plum Creek in Kyle- my 1st round as a married man- in February. (that broke the course record by 3, and it was pretty sweet as some Aggie-hating SWT golfers could not believe an Aggie set the record on their home course.)
