Hard to believe that just last spring, we had enough rain to produce wildflowers and refill playa lakes.

I could be wrong, but I bet these are the same types of flowers that gave rise to the name of the city, Amarillo.

Seeing those cotton stripping pics took me back to when I was innocent and 12 helping out on the farm.

Keep up the good work CA

My first great owl that I saw was early morning outside of Lakeview, Tx. The Lakeview in Hall County, not the one on Brazos County.

The Owl I saw, I thought it was a small child. It was sitting by the edge of the road and I really thought it was waiting on a bus. It was huge for a bird.

Beautiful birds. I have seen a few in the oaks of east texas flying around.

I don't have any photos, but I once worked a farm that had barn owls. Those are Very Cool birds as well. I'll have to look, I may have some burrowing owl photos. They're just flat out funny to watch.

Today on the farm, found the smallest horny toad (Texas Horned Lizard) I've ever seen.

That is a tiny one. They must be having a good year this year. I bet I have seen 300 horned lizards this summer.

EDIT: Sorry, I don't know what happened to these pics. Maybe I linked them from Facebook and the link is now dead. Will try to fix it.

I check this forum every day just in case CanyonAg has posted something. These pictures are awesome. I will be coming back to this thread to give each one the close attention it deserves.

I was quail hunting on my grandparent's place near Stamford a few years ago. There's one particular area along the creek that is very brushy, so I had to stoop over and scramble through. When I finally got through the worst of it, I stood up and found myself face-to-face with a horned owl at a range of about 6 feet. Scared the pellets out of me!!

I've seen them in our little urban village of Lubbock as well. Had on sitting on the top of a power pole in our alley a few evenings last fall.

Awesome birds!

Canyon, I was in Shamrock the first of Sept for a dove hunt. I had never heard quail singing like that in the evening before. I have always heard them in good years, but they were all around us and there were many. It is going to be a good year. I have a new Shorthair pup, so I am excited about the season in Childress.

So Texas Farm Bureau just put up a video featuring a very nice young man. I've known him, his parents and grandparents all my life. He has a sister class of '92 and some Aggie cousins. As a bonus, I linked another neighbor from Hale Center, an artist who's little brother is a close friend.

So these will be duplicates for those who hang out on the Outdoors Board. I posted them there, and realized that I never posted them here, as promised.

Burrowing Owls thread on Outdoors, has some other great owl photos.

Great pics, just saw this thread for the first time. Thanks for sharing your photos. I'm from Clovis and no longer live there, but these make me want to go back (until I think about the wind and blowing dirt :-) )
