I love when we luck out and get that in early to mid October. Makes it feel kind of like football season. Sometimes it even creeps into late September, but usually have to wait for fall for low 90's and low humidity.

It was 111 in Billings yesterday. That's pretty damn hot no matter what the humidity is.

Midtown got scary QUICK. Also rapidly changed the whole profile of Briar Forest/Kirkwood and Westchase areas. Just a few months after Katrina, I remember News2Houston coming on with breaking news aerial coverage of a massive schoolyard brawl at Booker T Washington (I think?)...turned out the local bangers and New Orleans refugee bangers had been beefing and it finally decided to settle the score with violence.

Was pretty fascinating to witness all of this in real time.

I've been to the Hoover Dam when it was over 110 degrees. That still felt better than 95 in Houston.

She was like, "no, it's a nice city." "C'mon lady, you're being kind." She said, "ok, that's alright and there are some good restaurants but, yeah, not much to look at."

Did anyone ever move to Houston for any reason other than work? I assume that's how all our families got here, and then family became the reason to stay. Generations, for some of us.

A former coworker from Vermont absolutely loved this city...everything about it. Thought we were the friendliest city in the world and he lived for the super hot summers...when people were lamenting the heat, he was loving it. Guess he spent so much of his life freezing and it did a number on him.

Having lived in Phoenix for a good number of years, this is false.

Up to about 105-107 it is true. After that even the dry heat is fuggin miserable. Like being in a convection oven - just dry AF hot ass air blowing around you and you get zero relief from it.
