It's great for access to downtown/midtown...but that's about it. Have to get on freeway to go almost anywhere else.

How is that different than any other part of Houston?

Was saying that from perspective of a recent grad who works downtown as per OP. Was assuming they're not going to be regularly travelling to Katy. They're going to be hagning out ITL...and the area where the OP chose is much more accesible to everything than EADO.

I had an office in EADO for several years and it was cool...but was definitely isolated for being so central.

I've never lived in Eado but have a good friend and coworker does.

My point was more from the fact that for being right next to downtown, they only have a couple streets that take you to downtown. And one of those main thoroughfares was just removed for the GRB expansion.

Yes, it's still faster to downtown than any other neighborhood because of the proximity. But I know from him that it can still be extremely frustrating and the area is pretty upset about it.

There used to be a proper order to these things

Midtown "area" -- new grads, early to mid 20s

Washington - Mid to late 20s, or if you were in a lucrative career this earlier on you bought your first home in the area

Heights - 30s and older

Now all new grads skip the first two and go to the heights, why? Well because the first two are "dark and dangerous"

Things change. The bar scene on 20th is way better than midtown or Washington these days. And with interest rates and property values what they are, now those 25 year olds don't think they'll ever afford to buy in the heights so they decide to just rent instead.

Thanks for all the replies, and folks taking time to share, it was very helpful. I'm so old my suggestion was to live off Richmond or Westheimer which when i got out of A&M seemed like where a lot of folks ended up, and I was told that was not helpful.

The new Aggie grad has zeroed in on the area, not sure what it is called, east of river oaks south of allen parkway west of Montrose, several places in there they like and seems to not be a bad commute into downtown from that area.

A lot of the new grads that worked on my team in my last company lived in Upper Kirby and all seemed to like it. It's fairly central with good bars and restaurants.
