There's room to do some of that now, at least for the realistic number of people who would want to stay on the grounds paying marked-up prices for booze after exiting the stadium. But Cal would have to lead with an initiative and the county would have to agree to it.

I think part of the reason we haven't seen more 'entertainment district' type growth around the stadiums is the desire of owners to keep money spent on gameday inside the stadium. Crane is changing that some, but only because he'll control the property across the street.

I get what people are saying. But, it is cool to have a place to go that's not a tail gate after the game to have a beer, food, and watch other games. I've done this in Arizona, Arlington, Green Bay, and Nashville.

Does the NRG club level keep the bar/concessions open after the game? I think the club level at Kyle keeps stuff open until 30 minutes after the post-game press conference is over.

Probably part of the reason, but not really a big part I wouldn't think.

It's a football stadium. It needs a lot of parking to house the ~70k spectators. That requires a significant amount of real estate to do, and by the time the game or even it is over the overwhelming majority of people just want to get in their car and get the F out of being surrounded by 70k other people.

I would have zero desire to do anything other than that after walking a half mile to my car after a football game or concert. Especially when it's either later at night or on a Sunday for football when i just want to get home so I can get some rest before having to drag my ass to work the following Monday. If I wanted a drink after that bad I'd load the ice chest up and have a cold one or two or five on the ride home.
