You know, now that I went out and checked, looks like all 3 are leaking above that round collar thing before I even put them on
Best setup is a cutoff in the ground, open the bleed valves to drain and don't touch any ball valves on the stack. Closing a ball valve while there is water still in the pipe/valve traps water in the valve which freezes. and cracks the housing.SockDePot said:
I've had good success with throwing some of those instant hand warmers in there with the wrapped spigots, put one in when I get up and one when I go to bed. No matter what I've done, my bfp for sprinklers cracks at the valve. This year I bought some plug in heat tracing off amazon a few months ago, guess we'll see how it does.

Not even close in duration. Will be a hard freeze Wednesday morning but not quite as low as the coldest of 21. We're really looking at a 24-36 hour event here

The head of the seating screw on one of my vacuum preventers broke off when I was trying to unseat it this morning. Any ideas wtf to do about that? Its not really in a position where I can drill it out either

Best setup is to go to the hardware store and buy 3 PVC Unions. Shut the water off to the sprinklers then cut the entire assembly off. Install 2 of unions on the pipes coming out of the ground and the piece you've cutoff. Install them 180* opposite to each other. Use the 3rd to build a couple caps to close everything up. If there's any water in the pipes coming out of the ground you can cover them with a small trash can filled with leaves, sawdust, packing peanuts, etc.The Kraken said:Best setup is a cutoff in the ground, open the bleed valves to drain and don't touch any ball valves on the stack. Seems like this is looking more like an ice deal than snow
Quote:
Key Points:
1) Frozen precipitation is likely over much of southeast Texas.
2) Trends favor snow north of I-10 with a wintry mix farther south.
3) 1-3" of accumulation of snow/sleet possible with the potential for locally higher amounts. Up to 0.10" of ice accumulation possible
My parents live next to a house that was an actual *****house during Euri. And even without power, the place stayed open.Snake Farmer said:
Jet blue moved the wife and kids flight a day to the left for the weather so wife changed it to Thursday so now have the house to myself for six days. Hookers and blow dealers work in the freezing temps, right?

Most local mets are putting out closer to 3" totals so far today, could see that tick upward as the close range hi-res models come in. 8" would be pretty wild, but remember that does not mean 8" on the ground due to melting from residual ground warmth and such
