It's a Randy Newman song. Sad, but great song. "Louisiana".

Man, I modified three roof installs over this Houston forecast! Lol.

Better safe than sorry but still frustrating.

Well this was a good excuse to change the spark plugs in the generator.

Be ready for the next one.

CenterPoint has some generators that have never been used. You might be able to pick up a bargain from them.

SIL's power is holding on for dear life in NOLA.

Her aunt in Metairie's street was taking on water, but none in the house as of now. Not sure on her power. She stopped responding to their family group text, so that's not a great sign.

I think it's funny that people from there talk about Metairie like it's a totally different place from New Orleans.

Hopefully they are all ok.

Probably not that different from Katy, Kingwood, Clear Lake, etc. that are all contiguous with Houston.

Yeah but if you live in Katy and are talking with someone from another state, are you going to tell them, "I'm from Katy" or "I'm from Houston" ? People from Matairie will die on that hill, and I just think it's funny.

My relatives from Metairie would say New Orleans if they were talking to someone not from Louisiana.

I've always listened to the Band of Heathens version of that song. I'll have to check out the Randy Newman version.

Pretty fair to say that Entergy significantly outperformed CenterPoint.

NOLA has outages, but not near what Houston had during Beryl.

Have a couple of guys in the region, no power loss in Slidell. Our guy in Morgan City doesn't have power, I think they took the brunt of it though.

Yeah...Wife's parents are in Mandeville. They lost power last night, and just got it back.

Entergy had their Centerpoint moment during Hurricane Laura.

Hurricane Laura came ashore as a high Cat 4. That's a little different...

Dictionary says it means "green in tint or color". So I guess you were saying you were green with envy of Houston.

Completely different stories. Beryl was a fart in the wind compared to Laura.

True. I lived in Gretna for many years (decades ago) and still say New Orleans when talking to someone not from Louisiana.

Wind is wind. Trees and power poles don't care if it's 90mph or 130mph.

Also Laura landed in Louisiana yet east Texas all the way into the Woodlands got knocked out. Entergy went through the same **** CP is now and stepped up their game since.
You're going to have to spell this one out for me. Wind speed doesn't matter?

Yeah, math on that one doesn't work at all. Wind force increases with the square of velocity IIRC.

Let's just throw the whole Hurricane category system out the window because wind speed doesn't matter.
