What does it cost for an electrician to come out and install the interlock?

An electrician made the rounds in my hood after the last storm and offered interlock kit and generator plugin at 50amp for $380.

Going to have him install it at our place after this latest fiasco.

As promised, install was finished today. I supplied the interlock kit from Amazon (bought the one he told me to buy) and everything else he provided. 50 amp and ready to go.

Yes, plus the cost of the interlock kit. Was about $25 on Amazon.

Great install, but just a heads up from somebody that recently worked in that space, those kits are like 12 bucks and take 3 minutes to install. If he included the chord as well, you're still looking at 70 in materials for 10 minutes on your property.

It's ok to pay professionals for their expertise. This one isn't like giving yourself haircuts. In this case, if you don't know what you're doing, a screwup in/around your panel box could burn your house down or kill you or someone else. I've seen well more than my fare share of "I know what I'm doing" and "this will be fine". Everyone is not an electrician.

Yeah, when I have "independent contractors" that will do any small jobs around the house and will do any electrical wiring inside the house but always say "I will not touch the breaker box, you need master electrician", I know its not something I want to try to do myself.

Eh, I'm sure I'll get tired of the rain at some point, but I'm not close to there yet. I'll gladly take overcast/rainy over roasting at 105 any day of the week.

Definitely. Especially given we've got at least six weeks before we can even hope for a hint of a cold front.

I've got to install cabinets and floors in a garage apartment this weekend so I am loving this cool air.

I said at least. I fully expect we see nothing until mid October.

Just giving you a hard time. I never count on the heat going away until mid to late October if we are lucky.

You also correctly said "a hint". Everybody knows that the TV weather folks will start pimping the possibility of a cold front at least 3-4 weeks before one actually makes it through.

I do wish we could get one of those random July cold fronts that put temps in the 60s overnight like we got several years ago. I guess this rainy week will have to suffice.

Reorganized the garage some yesterday...put on some mosquito repellent, opened the door and went to it. No way I'm doing that during the day in July last year.

Might need a bushhog for the backyard, though, when it finally stops raining.

Yea same. My lawn stays wet in a lot of spots. May not be able to get to it until September when it's a jungle.

My husband brought home a goat one day. Damn animal didn't eat ***** Stupid Spanish goats.... it was also mean as hell, and started attacking our kids. I wanted to turn it into fajitas, my husband ended up giving it to his mom who also gave it away. I'm sure someone got good fajitas.

If you can have chicken fajitas and shrimp fajitas, you can have goat fajitas. [/Slicer97]

Isn't cabrito roasted or stewed (like pulled pork)? I'm talking about grilled or smoked goat fajitas.

I would have also settled for birria. But noooooo. He had to ruin my fun and give the dang thing away.
