Ah my bad, completely missed that.

But yes, it would do that as well. It is the exact size generator I have. When you get your 50A breaker and interlock installed, have them do the soft start as well.

We have the 13k trifuel version of that unit. Ran my BFs A/C, which is new and has a soft start, but on day 2, he couldn't get the compressor to start up. He thinks he has a problem with his soft start. But it should work, assuming everything is installed correctly and in proper working order.

I suspect if multiple line workers were poisoned with fentanyl in a water bottle in an attempted mass murder, that it would make the news.

From my own recollection, we've only seen three verified instances here in Houston.

The guy who shot a lineman with a pellet gun.
The guy who intimidated linemen with a gun.
The crackhead who used a crowbar to smash a mirror on a truck.

Everything else seems to be internet rumor and hearsay.

The high harmonics of the generator may have fried the electronics of the soft start.

What's the best (and cost efficient) method of reducing generator provided electric feedback on sensitive electronics? Short of a large/expensive inverter (which couldn't run the AC to begin with)

Power conditioner. Would be expensive to protect everything with this, but if you have a bunch of stuff in one area it wouldn't be too bad. Back in another life we ran sensitive analyzers in trailers off of big North Star generators. Very dirty power and the conditioners helped tremendously.

Yes. There are news stories about the event that I did not specifically refer to. There have clearly been violent threats against linemen and that is inexcusable and should be prosecuted - just as violent threats against anyone should be.

Very big difference between a threat and the tremendous scandal that would come from trying to mass murder strangers via water bottle poisoning.

Now for TX Pride to pick up all the bagged stuff and we'll be done.

It actually makes me really sad that people are threatening other people with no control over the situation who are just trying to do their jobs. I just couldn't skip the joke. I dont understand what someone hopes to accomplish by being mean to lineman (or any other professional)

I fortunately have a trane variable speed AC unit. My Kohler 7.5KW generator was able to run my whole downstairs. 2 fridges, 1 freezer, big aquarium and the a/c all at once.

Next time you have to replace your AC unit, I would recommend a variable speed unit. More upfront cost, but runs more efficiently and in these cases, its easier for a generator to start them up.

ETA: 35 amp output on generator, but 50amp interlock.

Also - regardless of what connections your generator has, you should always opt to install a 50 amp inlet. If you ever upgrade generators, you won't need to change out the inlet (and wires).

Companies don't randomly send workers in hopes of getting paid. There are agreements long in place before disasters. You really think companies are going to send crews on overtime and per diem to sit in a parking lot for 5 days just because?

You're right in there being bigger issues if random companies did so.

So a bunch of lineman are just lying for no reason, while you, who I'm guessing doesn't work for an electricity company, knows this is all just made us BS. Got it

Turns out, yes. Or people never even talked to them and just made it up.

Yes, they have inverters large enough. Ours is a 16,000 watt inverter. Even the 11,000 watt inverter that Duromax has would be big enough if you have a soft start. Or get two small inverters and hook them together.

Well the media isn't going share it all, because it doesn't fit their narrative of Centerpoint hate.
