I am headed to league city tomorrow and can bring about 15 gallons of gas, a generator, a chainsaw and a polesaw if anyone needs any of these things.
I just want to point out that I've never seen someone more willing and enthusiastic to help others than you when an event calls for it (besides maybe Mattress Mac).

Good bull my friend!

I was about to make a "has anyone heard from Diggity" post. Figured you were in Spain.

If you're looking for a generator, keep an eye on Prime day next week. I picked up the 12k Duramax dual fuel after the freeze on Prime day for $800 ($1400 regularly). Both Duramax and Westinghouse seem to have good options for both dual fuel and tri fuel.

Just did a tour of The Woodlands. Gosling north to Research Forest, over to Home Depot. No working traffic lights until the east side of 45 at 242. Still lots of down lines and trees on lines. Doesn't look like much has been cleaned up.

Turned west onto 242, and after the first couple of intersections, power is out. Took Research west to 1488 and no power there, either. Cell phone service here is awful too. I can't get 5G.

Didn't see a single truck or crew working anywhere.

Very little lineman activity in woodlands and Montgomery county area of spring. Saw some on 45 north working by the Red Robin and that's it.

People are saying power back from Entergy tomorrow, but it sure doesn't seem like that's possible considering how much is out.

I'm on the 800 block Herkimer (technically 77007) - can confirm it just came back on.

Westbury should be back on shortly since I finally broke down and bought an in-room AC when the house hit 82 degrees inside.

I saw a utility truck in my neighborhood and got a text saying they are assessing the power issue. Trying not to get my hopes up.

Cell service seems to have improved in the last hour or so. Still nothing in Sienna otherwise. No updates from xfinity either.

Generator is currently running at 76% so no capacity for a second. Thanks for the offer.

Old discussion, but more relevant every passing year: At some point the City / Centerpoint just has to figure out how to bury distribution lines. This doesn't happen in other metros.

Saying this as one who has built subdivisions with buried electrical which weathered the derecho and Beryl fine, but am spending another balmy evening without power in the heights.

It's not that they don't know how, it's they know people don't want the rate raise that would be needed to do it.

That's where I say do the cost analysis and give people the opportunity to vote for the bonds or increased rates to do it. I've paid to move transmission lines and bury distribution lines through the course of new construction projects - yes it's a premium, but after how many of these outages does that scale tip to being worth it?

There's plenty of conversation about buying thousands of dollars in generators here. Just using a cost of $3500 for example, multiplied times the number of Beryl outages (2.5M) and that's $8.75B. At a million dollars a mile that's enough for all 6,200 miles of roads in Houston and leaves 40% unspent or for debt service or R&M. Amortize that cost into an electric bill for 15 years as a bond across the service area and the rate increase is $19/month.

Centerpoint is perfectly fine and are continuing to handle this with ease! Quit complaining and just be more prepared!!!

I'm coming up on 36 hours on my generator in a house cooling to 68 (reducing the stop/starts on the AC).
That's not a bad idea. I've always bumped mine up to run less, but I'm going to cool the damn thing down and just let them run. I have a 5 ton and 2.5 ton and my 20kw runs both but does surge when they come on. Once they're on, it runs normally. Outside of a fridge and freezer, a couple fans, and the kid's TV, that's pretty much all it's running. Having full LEDs throughout helps as well.

Here's what I do...I push it down to 68. When it hits that and turns off, I then bump it back up to like 72-74...let it slowly drift back up until it kicks on again. Then bump it back down.

Can confirm the recent posts for the woodlands. No power except for by the hospitals at 45 and 242. Entergy is no where to be seen. The only truck i saw wasn't a line truck. Entergy, like centerpoint, got caught with their pants down. One of the worst prepared responses I've ever seen and I've lived in Houston for almost 50 years. The Entergy update said 50% restoration of power by end of day tomorrow. But they also threw a huge caveat for heavier impacted areas. I wouldn't expect power until late this week. I just need some damn internet. I've got my generac. Just need connectivity.

There was a CP truck in Westbury 5 earlier doing a survey of the area. One of the guys told us that they probably wouldn't start the actual work until tomorrow due to a lack of crews to do the work.

well, they are. the surveyors generally have to go out first and assess what is what and if it is safe to begin work. they won't begin if there are trees in the way or if a line from the pole to your house is yanked out of your box outside, etc. the linemen don't just show up and go house to house looking for work to do.

I saw a small CP truck turning into Sand Creek around 5:15 this afternoon. I'm assuming he was out doing just that and finding the issues and where to dispatch crews.

Got power back in 77009 around 4:30. Made a few circles around the neighborhood throughout the day and never once saw a CP truck. Did see multiple Public Works trucks though clearing downed trees from the streets. Hang in there everyone!

Appreciate it but neighbor and MiL inspected for us. Just want power on.

I do have an interlock and generator. I think i wrote about it and installing yourself on the Home Improvement board. Search for my name, if those are interested.

Could also be something specific to your line or transformer. Think the pole transformers in our hood each serve four houses.
